The first day of my last period was July 26. I am on the pill (or was, I never took it this month because I missed my period and thought I might be pregnant). It turns out, after several HPT's and a blood test that I am not pregnant. I have been under stress and did miss a few pills. I guess I am just wondering if anyone else has missed a period while on the pill and was not pregnant. I am just a little concerned that something else could be really wrong because this has never happened to me before. I do tend to stress over the little things and have missed pills before and this has still never happened. Is it normal to miss a period while on the pill (I have been on the pill for 9 years and nothing like this has ever happend)? I am supposed to start again in a 1.5 weeks. Any serious advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I think that some people aren't really reading my question. I already had a blood test done and it was negative. But I still haven't started my period. If I don't start my period again in a week or so (like I am supposed to) then I will go see my doctor. I was just wondering if I should be worried or not. Need advice from people who have had a similar experience.

I can't start my pills again until the first Sunday after my next period. So that will have to wait.

Thanks Aimee...glad to know this has happened to someone else. And to you Jojo...the pill IS NOT supposed to make you miss a period(at least not Ortho-Tricyclen). I have NEVER missed a period in the 9 years I have been on it..so please don't talk down to me like I'm 12. Maybe you should read the packets more closely.

Nope. You should take your pill everyday AT THE SAME TIME as you took it the day before. Go see your doctor.

This happened to me as well. I switched from the patch to the pill about 3 months ago. I could tell you the day I would start my period usually down to 12 hours before it would start. After the first 3 weeks on the pill, I waited for my period and it never came. I took numerous HPT's and all were negative. I kept taking the pill as instructed by my OB and sure enough...I started my period in the middle of my next pack of pills! Don't worry hun, it just happens sometimes. I know you're worried but try to stay calm . Sometimes our bodies do weird things. If you don't have a period this month, I would talk to your doctor just be be safe. You're not alone. I think it happens to every woman at least once in her life :0)Good luck to you dear!

Yeah, this happened to me last christmas. I had been a bit naughty and run several packets together and I'm a nightmare for forgetting to take them so sometime take a few at the same time. I missed 3 periods, after the first missed 1 I stopped taking the pill altogether but it took another 2 months before I got my period. They were still a bit erratic after that but back to normal now. Hope this helps but if you're still worried go to your doctor.

The very first month that I started the pill I didn't get my period. Then it was every 2 months until it was only about 3 times a year that I'd get my period.
But check with your doctor.
JOJO- You are severely misinformed. The pill isn't supposed to make you skip periods. If anything it is supposed to regulate periods. Maybe you should have a better understanding on the subjects that you answer on.
Also- you don't have to ovulate to get periods- that's a fact.

Yes It has happened to me a few times... All my doctor could come up with however was that I was under lots of stress and that I was underweight, with low iron count. Maybe your weight is just a little low and that with the combination of stress and missing a pill or so
Hope everything works out :

My girl friend is on the pill and it has happened to her before. Just be sure the take the pills every day at around the same time. If you really want to be safe just take a pregnancy test.

It has happened, but you have to continue taking the pill, everyday you skip increases your chance that you might be. But it sounds like stress is the cause of your skips. Try to relaxe a little more. Let the small stuff go.

If a blood test said that your not pregnant, then chance are, your not. Go to an Obgyn and get checked out then start back on your pills asap.

The pill is suppossed to make you skip your period. You do not ovulate when you are on the pill. In fact, some people take it just so that they wont have a period. Didn't you know that? you should read the box more carefully next time.
