Two weeks ago I asked a question about still having bleeding, most everyone said it was probably normal and not to be concerned. Now at 5 1/2 weeks I've been still having bleeding off and on. It will be bright red and come with cramps then it will settle down again and start to taper off, then a day or so later it will do the same thing again. Now I have a back ache, which I'm not sure whether it is related. I have my 6 week appointment in two days. And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get in to the doctor before then anyways unless it was an emergency. Should I just wait the two days until my appointment, or should I call and try to get in sooner? I would appreciate answers from someone with experience. And yes I probably am stupid for asking this, instead of just calling my doctor but I can never get through on Mondays and don't know what to do.

I believe that postpartum bleeding can occur for up to 8 weeks after birth. I wouldnt be too concerned at this point as long as its not extremely heavy. When i had my daughter i bled heavily for 4 weeks then spotted for another 3. i also had cramps almost the entire time. i would wait until your 6 week visit. Congrats on your baby and your not stupid for asking this. Being a parent is stressful and we all have questions and we never stop learning how to do it!

Are you noticing any clots of blood? and is the it just cramping or pain? How much blood is there? Do you have any other symptoms?
As everyone has said, bleeding is normal after giving birth but if you are concerned, most post partum units give you their number to call to ask questions such as this and they can probably give you better direction over the phone rather then over a computer, otherwise you could go to a walk in or see your doctor.

I was still bleeding then. I was bleeding then it almost stopped then all sudden it was heavy. I had came to the end of my bleeding from having the baby then i started my period. If you see the doctor in a few days i would just wait and be sure to tell him what is going on.

If it were just bleeding, I'd wait, but with the backache, you'll feel better if you call. It could be an infection, like one of the other answerers said. If you decide to wait until your appointment, okay, but call immediately if you start feeling weak, dizzy, nauseated, run a fever, develop a rash, the blood/discharge smells bad, etc.

Try taking it easy for the next two days and see if the bleeding slows or stops. No lifting, no stairs, etc. Just REST and do basic self/baby care. Stay off your feet. You may have been over doing it.
Then talk to your caregiver in 2 days.

Bright red blood = new blood. I would get checked out as soon as possible. It could be fine but it could be an infection. I had an infection of the uterus after my daughter was born. You are concerned so why hesitate calling the Dr.? At least make your Dr. aware of it and they can guide you from there. Good luck!

I wouldn't be concerned. You can wait until your appointment to see what the Dr says. My first delivery was like that and i breast fed. After my first kid was born I had a period every two weeks.

i doubt that the phone lines are tied up ALL day on monday.
sit down and try to call.
there could be something wrong.
yes, you "bleed" alot after pregnancy, but you also have to stay aware of your body and what's right and normal for YOU.
call your dr and if they are concerned then they will see you or tell you to go to the ER.
take care.

It sounds normal. Are you stressing? Make sure you tell your doctor everything that's been going on. As long as you're not having silver-dollar sized blood clots you should be ok. that is what i was told when i was going through post-partum.
