Don't do peppermint schnaups. Perhaps start with beers around the world buy good light beer Coors light then Anchor Steam, Soporro beer from Japan something russian middle east and working west to east and end up with Harp Ale You can do this east to west north to south but do it in six pack style a few beers at a time . Like fine wine some beer is best poured into two glasses and enjoy with friends

Well........newbie drinker, or at least, nebie LEGAL drinker....people tend to develop a taste for certain things that they prefer.
For instance...as far as hard liquor goes...I prefer vodka for a mixed drink, and Tequila for shots.
You may find that you like scotch, or vodka, or rum or whatever.
So, someone may say, a rum and coke is good, but you might not like rum.
For starters....experiment....I would suggest a clear liguor first. They don't have such a burning, strong taste. Plain drinks are vodka and tonic, gin and tonic, a screwdriver...(vodka and orange juice).
There are very sweet drinks where you can't taste the booze as much.
Then there are stronger tasting drinks, like a Manhatten. (I like those).
Okay, enough technical stuff....go for a Screwdriver first. Basic, but you will get a taste of Vodka.
One drink to beward of...which I just plain love sometimes, is a Long Island Iced Tea. Made with all five clear liquors......strong as heck..but soooo tasty.
Maybe you should go to a bartenders mixing website and read the different drinks and decide.
Oh....and as for never being sober again.....heh....you'll find out, just like the most of us drinkers do!! Happy Birthday!!

A purple hooter or Alabama slammer. Good luck and don't get to drunk you want to remember your 21st don't you? Also you can mix beer and wine but don't mix anything with wiskey or anything of that nature. Before going out take some asprin and drink a glass of milk it will help with the hangover the next day. ;-)

Cant go wrong with a Long Island Ice Tea, I'm not exactly sure whats all's in it but its pretty good
my friend likes it strong so he goes with Stolli and sprite
