I've had quite a few Mormon neighbors, and have generally had very good dealings with them. I also bought my present house from a Mormon. I like them, on the whole. I don't necessarily share their beliefs, but I don't go around cutting down their beliefs, either.

Since Joseph Smith was murdered in Illinois, the Mormons have made a long treck from Iowa to Utah. They had a long hard trip and tried to keep their group together, even walking across the Mountains, going West. I know that the Mormons are dedicated to God. The old time Mormons took many wives, because some of the husbands were killed or died along the way. So many of the living men, took the widows and children into their family, that is how some got more wives then one. Times have changed now. Modern Mormon's are against Poligamy. So that practice has been done away with and is not acknowledged now. The Mormon Missionaries are wonderful , dedicated young men, who are out to spread the word of God. I am not sure about the book of Mormon. But I do know that in the Holy Bible, it tells us, not to put or write other books in reference to the Holy Bible. So there are two aspects that I don't know. One is the use of another book, I think was composed by Joseph Smith. The other is wondering if Joseph Smith, was really choosen by a vision from God, as a Prophet. If I could find out , if those two events were true and from God, I would give them a top notched rating. But being I am un-sure then I would not attend the church. BUT they are some of the Most dedicated children of God. So don't cast stones, until you really know. I have prayed to God about the religion. I always get a good feeling and not a negative, vibe, when I pray about the Mormons. I have walked in the Mormon Trail out in Wyoming and it was a Great Feeling. The Mormons are Great. Just a few things I don't understand. I just hope and pray they are from the true God. I worry if their religion was based on a dream and not the real thing.

They're some of the kindest, most family-oriented people you will ever meet. Very friendly, very honest, very hard-working, and very moral people. However, I have some major problems with their religion because they claim to believe in God and the Bible, but the Book of Mormon is in direct conflict with the Bible on many issues, and the position of the Mormon Church is that in those areas where there is a conflict, they follow the Book of Mormon over the Bible. Many Christians believe that Mormonism is a cult -- I don't know that I would go that far, but I have a hard time with a lot of their beliefs...

They are rather enjoyable people, very family oriented, sets them in the right path, they rarely get into arguments with brothers and sisters.
For anybody who says that they don't like Mormons should throw out their TV, electric guitar, CD/DVD technology, radio, headphones, zip drives, computer games, synthetic diamonds and avoid street lights. Oh, and don't forget that they made the west livable by discovering new farming techniques. And bionic body parts, heart, and hearing aids. They should start contributing more to society than just their complaining.
They no longer practice polygamy, the group that does only calls themselves Mormon, they aren't recognized by the official church.
They also believe in the Bible, and the Bible contradicts itself anyways, not just the Book of Mormon. So stop looking for reasons to criticize one religion.
I'm in a bad mood :)

The ones I've known I've liked, despite that their religious beliefs and church are a bunch of complete nonsense. It's made for good science fiction (Battlestar Galactica). As Christianisms go, it basic beliefs have as much claim to validity as others. Most Mormon doctrine can be found in the ancient writings, though it was declared heresy over time. In that sense they have a valid claim that their religion is a restoration. Just because their notions were declared heresies by the councils don't make them less true or more silly than the silly ones which weren't. It just means the "heretics" were bad politicians, which I think is commendable.

Good part is their devotion to family and morals, hard to knock that part. Bad thing is that is is a totally created by man "religion." None of the "history" about the early north american civilizations can be proven, the main books of the faith contridict each other, even the prohets, supposedly talking directly to God do not say the same beliefs. Either God was messing up, or they men were. There is not planet Kolob, no God in Heaven popping out celestial babies..... it is all science fiction.

I have just finished reading the Book of Mormon I believe it is a true record and is the word of God, as the Bible is also.
Many questions of mine were answered in the Churches official website www.mormon.org
In the book of Mormon Ether chapter 5page 487 provision was made for three witnesses to the Book of Mormon, and they were required to be people that had helped to bring the record forth.
One of those witnesses was Martin Harris who Mortgaged his farm to pay for the printing of the first 5000 copies of the record.

the Mormons I know are some of the nicest people I've ever met. I don't agree with some of their beliefs but I'm definitely not one to judge.

I think their mythology is preposterous and their politics are generally non-christlike, but to be honest, every single mormon family I have ever met seems to be good, honest, hardworking people who genuinely care about others and their own family. I just wish they would vote that way.
