i love him dearly
but we can't be together with that accent. can he change it?

Talk about shallow! You say you love him yet you can't be with him because of his accent!? I say you probably don't know what love is! If you make such a big deal about it that you can't get past it to get into a serious relationship, then you're too immature to be in a relationship anyway. It doesn't matter if he can or can't change his accent, what matters is that he shouldn't and you should accept that. Many people find the australian accent to be annoying, so what would you think of someone who wouldn't want to be with you because of your accent? Grow up.

How can you complain about another persons accent? I could say the same about your australian accent. (BTW I'm american) Don't let something as simple as the way some one speaks be a issue to you I mean, it's not like he can help it.

Whoa, I can't believe you want the man to change his accent! As others said, but I must reiterate you are selfish and shallow for wanting this man to change for you. Haven't you ever heard "Don't change for anyone" Meaning YOU LOVE THEM FOR THEM. Not to try and change them. This is the EXACT same thing, like it or not.
You should have known that people would get upset and say stuff to this effect. Maybe he doesn't like the way you talk........but HE hasn't asked you to change. As another poster said and I completely agree if you want to try and change this about him. HE does deserve better than you, not the other way around. I hope he sees you for the person you are and leaves you. You are NOT in love with him by the way. You don't know what love is if you think THIS is it.
Quit being so shallow about petty stuff like this and worry about really stuff in life!

I am going through the exact same thing!
i am a girl from new york (not the city i have a nnormal american accemt. and i went to a school in southren ohio and my boyfriend is so country and his lasy country voice drives me crazy. it's so ugly but he is such a hottie and a total sweetheart.
Honestly you have to accept the good with the bad. He is already atarting to talk a bit like me and i say some country things like him without even noticing.
In the end you still "love him dearly" and just cause his voice is differnt thats still in the end what you feel in love with.

Maybe he hates YOUR accent. To me, Brits and Aussies sound a lot alike, however, I prefer the Brit accent if I could choose. I am American. My hubby is Aussie and I accept his accent because I love HIM.
