my dad said i can't take my laptop on holiday because there might not be any internet access, so i checked and found out there was
next, he said that the baggage handlers would just chuck it around and it would break, so i said i would have it in my hand luggage as you are now allowed at the airport i'm going to.
then he said no because there's not enough room with the other stuff i've got to put in (delicate items) and i can put in my nintendo ds & mobile instead.
then i said we could put it in the middle of the bigger suitcase surrounded by clothes to protect it and he said no because there wouldn't be enough room.
he said he'll 'prove it' when all the clothes only just fit. i offered to have some clothes in my hand luggage (could be rolled up) but he said no because it would crease them.
how do i win? 10 points for whatever it is, question will be deleted if nothing works unless i get something i think would defintely work and is really persuasive

i only want to go on it for 5 mins to check how any questions are going on here and answer a couple etc. check e-mail. stuff like that. i could do it whilst he's at golf as he never lets us come as we can't play it properly so it'll give me something to do until we all start the "family time"

what about hiding it in the suitcase once its packed? If you can get a hold of one of them and then slip the laptop in, that might work... and when he finds it when you're at the hotel, you can say "told you it would be fine" then again, I would prefer to take my ds and mobile as I'm really into Animal crossing right now.... and there will be internet cafe's on holiday surely? Good luck tho!

Is it better to have your laptop for 2 weeks on holiday with the risk of having it broken or safe at home for the next 5 years.
What you need to ask yourself is what do you want it for? Does your phone not have internet access and you can play games on your Nintendo. Or is there a boy/girl involved? we've all been there once even us oldies tTake a break for your holiday you may find out they like you more when you get back!

I see you have the urge to take the laptop with u, if you have to convince your dad as i understand you already have ways to protect the machine, tell him things like you could use the laptop to find out local eateries, places to see, distances etc. Laptop becomes so much handy even when you are on holiday, since you have internet access. Also you can also upload your pictures to show to his friends or yours while on vacation. Finally, goodluck.

Seems as if your Dad is finding excuses to just say NO. The truth of the matter is he does not want you to bring the laptop. Just deal with it, leave it at home. Maybe he has something else he wants you to do, instead of using a laptop.

Look, the bottomline is your father does NOT want you take the laptop. FORGET about it. Can't you see that for all of his excuses you have a good idea to protect the laptop and he STILL comes up with an excuse to say no. forgeddaboutit.

i would say that it would keep u busy while ur on holiday and keep u out of trouble. if he is just saying no to everything u come up with then u've gotta go to extreme measures... CRY! ...and moan and nag. it always used to work for my brother. show him how much it would mean to u and how much u would appreciate it. ...or maybe, look at the plus side.. he could be saying NO cos he has a suprise planned??

If you're going to a hotel he's quite right not to allow it. those things get ripped about as fast as you can unpack them. Find out if the hotel rooms have a safe large enough to fit the thing.

you are addicted to the internet and your father is trying to gently pry you away from it. you need the time away from it. you cant live your life online. go on holiday with your family, meet a nice girl or guy, and LIVE. dont stay stuck in a room with the internet.
