Christianity teaches us we are born in sin, and unless we believe like the rest of the herd of sheep we are doomed to burn in the bowels of hell forever. If this is the basic belief then yes, I would say it is hateful. Sounds like a dictatorship to me.

No. I don't think Christianity is a hateful religion. But I do think a lot of people who call themselves Christians say and do a lot of hateful things, supposedly in the name of their religion. However, I don't think this is unique to Christianity.
I know when I managed hotels, the worst news we could get as a staff was that some type of church group (or even just a lone minister) was coming to stay. As a pattern that we saw repeated numerous times over the years at a few different locations, we could count on being spoken to horribly, treated poorly, cursed at, have religion thrown in our faces as a shield against every inappropriate activity, and even being violently physically threatened. I believe myself to be a Christian, however I would never align myself with any of these so-called Christians. So, I think it's not the religion, it's the individual, and unfortunately, it's sometimes the mob mentality of people who are shaking their religion on a stick in your face for some kind of personal gain.

many people feel Christianity is a hateful religion and like Islam history and the facts support it. It wasn't the religion it was the fanatics who used their own misintrepetation as God's word.
Islamis now where Christianity was hundreds of years ago and no religion can exceed either one in the mass of murder, torture, occupation, rape and pilmarge of innicents world wide by these two.
But Christainity's bloody past is just that. While Islam is still in it's worse days of bloody misinformation and misinterpation of God and peace.
When the Christains leave this rock you'll want a ride with them:):). This rock's days are numbered as is all planets, and suns. Nothing Godly just the facts of the Universe.

Maybe you'd like to hear my side of this, being that I am a Christian. I personally think most Christians are the most hurtful and backstabbing people alive today. I have been hurt by many so-called "Christians". I have probably hurt a few people myself. The thing is is that God says if you ask for His forgiveness, then He will forgive you. I think people hear that, say they are Christian, and then feel like they are free to do as they please because "God will just forgive me later.." (Which is the WRONG way to go about it.) I hate the fact that people do that, but let me tell you just so hopefully you will always remember this: Any Christian who does things like that, is not a TRUE Christian.

I love Brenda's World!! She always says it like I would, only better.

I feel like I'm repeating myself from other posts, but I see religion (especially Christianity) as an addiction that is fueled by afflicting others. I think there is a physiological high from the Holy Spirit stuff, and it becomes a "red dragon" chase. It is dangerous, hateful and evil because it consumes and abuses. Having grown up in Christianity (and a seemingly-healthy home), I can tell you that conventional Christianity only PRETENDS to be loving. Their message is passive-agressive judgment and hatred.

If you read the Bible, you'll find that God is mean and plays headgames. He's constantly rewriting the rules, so that he can justify inflicting horrific abuse on His children.

I wish Jesus would come to get them! But who would we debate about what the Holiday greeting at WalMart should be?

Christianity isnt a religion-its a way of life.
There are religious people that claim to be christians and are evil hate mongers hypocrites.
I have met a few good christians, but being an atheist, I have met many good atheists.
Kind people who believe that you treat people the way you wanna be treated.
that is a way of life too.

It is not Christianity. If you were going to lay the blame appropriately, I would put it on the small minority of people who twist the scripture in an instrument of hatred. I would also indict those people who blindly go along with such hate as they are almost as guilty. Christianity as an institution and the bulk of the Christians I have met are wonderful people who believe their bible is a book of love and not hate.

Hate the player, not the game.

At the end of time when JEsus comes hes not goig to jsut takehis followers and leave everyone else jsut sitting ont he earth. At the end of time the true followersof Jesus will be in heaven and everyone else will be in hell. Christianity is not a religion of hate it is a religion of love. Any Christian who says a hateful thing cannot truely call themselves a Christian!!

Though there have many things man has perpetrated against man in the name of God. These events have little to do with the Teachings of Jesus. For Jesus said himself I have not come into the world condemn the world but to save it. Christianity is a way of life in the truest since. It is built on Love. Its is man who perverts this messege for his own reasons. But in the truest form its a faith built on Love.

Christianity's core teachings like those of many religions are fundamentally good but misguided people construct meaningless dogma around those teachings and it is that that is bad. Religion is for many people a barrier between them and God rather than an aid to spiritual growth.

Christianity is supposed to be a religion about love. The Christians who exploit the religion are hateful.
