Yes, I give one of mine meds that way, as she loves bananas. the others don't like them, so I give in a piece of meat..I've never had luck with the peanut butter.

I would think that a banana would upset his stomach. Try peanut butter or a piece of bread (mashed over the pill). You can also give him/her a bit of wet dog food and hide the pill in there. Cheese also works really well. Sometimes I beat an egg and pour it over my dogs food for added protein. You could do this and mix the pill in. My dogs (a lab and a pointer) get so excited when they see that egg coming out of the fridge that they don't notice the pill.
My lab is so food motivated that I just tell him that the pill is a treat (since he knows this word). I ask him if he wants a treat, have him sit, and throw the pill in the air. He jumps to snag it and downs it never knowing what it is.
Good luck!

I never knew that dogs ate banana's so I will assume that you are the one who is going to eat the banana and take the medicine.
If you want to give medicine to a dog you will put it in meat that you know he likes.

It depends on the medicine and your dog's eating habits. Certain types of medicine can't be put in food, and others are very bitter if your dog bites into it. You really should just call your vet and ask. They won't charge you for the info. If you do put the medicine inside something, I recommend a hot dog, cheese, liverwurst, or peanut butter.

If the dog will eat a banana, I use a piece of a hot dog, cheese or peanut butter.

Yeah, as long as it's not a huge piece, depending on the animal too of course. I give my dog her pills that way. It's a great way for them to swallow the pill without loosing it in their gums or spitting it back out. My dog is a Lab, it's a bigger dog and can handle that.
