Supermarket, any time! I shop for most things online - except food! When it all started I tried all the services, but after a few months I had to give up. Problems include: 1) You can't choose yourself, so eg. avocados are always stone-hard. 2) You can't rely on them - if you're planning a dinner party, say, and two hours before you're supposed to start cooking the delivery arrives with a key ingredient missing, you're stuck (if you go to the shop yourself you can always change the plans if you discover something is out of stock). 3) It's much more difficult to make use of special offers. 4) When you go shopping yourself you always end up buying items which aren't on your list, and although some of these are 'unnecessary extras' some are things you simply forgot when making your shopping list and are therefore genuinely necessary. 5) You don't see new products.
So as much hassle as going to the supermarket yourself is, I'm afraid that's the best option by far.

I think there are plus sides and down sides to both. I haven't done my grocery shopping on-line for a while. It's great when you're agoraphobic...no crowds/open spaces! Also I find it really good for sticking to a budget because you can view all the specials, but not go "wandering" and putting unwanted (or un-needed) items on the list. I am thinking of going back to on-line shopping as I might not have a car to use to get me to the supermarket soon. The one dilemma I face is the use of plastic shopping bags. For the last 12 months, I have religiously been using "bags for life" when I go shopping. If I begin to shop on-line again, I won't be able to control not being able to use plastic bags again for the shopping. So, for that reason, and for the reason of just being able to get out of the house, I like to actually go to the supermarket. But I hate the crowds, so I normally go after 11pm at night. So, in summary, pros and cons to both. But I like to do both, for the varying reasons.

Depends on what I need. Generally, I'd prefer to shop in person, as I get a good look at what I'm buying. I also know where to take an item for a refund, should I have a problem. Shopping online usually doesn't afford either luxury mentioned above, though you're more apt to find a wider array of products.

For general grocery shopping, I like the 'proper shops' and supermarkets as you can see exactly what you are buying- ie. if it's good quality or not.
For other one-off items, things you already know about, and know exactly what you want, I like online shopping. Things such as a tv.
For things that you would like to look at before buying, things that there are a lot of, but all very different, like digital cameras, I think a shop is best, as it allows you to handle it and try it out, to see what you are buying, before you hand over your hard-earned cash!

I only order online when I'm lazy. Otherwise I love browsing the stores, seeing new products, getting ideas, talking to the section managers. I always go at 6 a.m. when it opens because nobody else is there! And if you build up a good rapport with those managers, they'll haul stuff out of the back for you. Nothing like finding a new food and inventing a dish.

I love the supermarket !! The people I could do without but I love all the colors of the produce section. I actually make a habit of hitting as many grocery stores as possible when traveling, for I learn alot about different cultures and countries by checking out their food stores.
for example : While visiting Finland, i found out they DON'T refrigerate their eggs like we do here in the usa. I was shocked for so many here have a fricken seisure if their eggs are out of the frig for over an hour.... quite interesting... Makes me think we have alot of germ-a-phobics here so-to-speak. : )

I always use my supermarket as I prefer my food to be fresh and within it's sell by dates. I also like to spur of the moment buy and hunt for good deals.
