You can't always tell. Make sure to take him/her out right after they wake up and around 15 minutes after they eat or drink. I think it's every 3 hours. You'll have to do it during the night too.
Here is an excellent site about it: http://www.tbobostons.com/housebreaking.html

you don't, you have to train it. First a couple of time in an hour, then lenghten that to an hour and go from there. Always show them the door. so they will go to the door or if they whine...you will
know if you puppy has to go, when it is TOO LATE, and has already gone.

Have fun should take you about 2 months.

usually they will start to sniff around in a circle (or wandering pattern). If you have an opps think what she did before. Memeber just after waking up or eating they probably will need to pee.

You have to take some time, observeing. there are signals/body language, going to a particular spot, nose down zig zag sniffing you have to determine the behavior that immeadiatley preceeds his peeing.

The way that I found to be the best for me was to take your pup outside after he/she drinks water, and after everytime they eat. Make sure you take them to the same spot everytime so they get the routine down. Works like a charm.

She/he will run back and forth, pase, bug you, tear things up, all kinds of ways to tell. Your best bet is to just pay attention to his/her behavior and take him/her outside whenever you think it's called for. If that doesn't work, just take him/her outside every couple of hours until she/he has to pee.
Hope this helps and good luck!
