He was into drugs for a bit, went to jail for a year, and is now in rehab, but has been clean for nearly a year. I have great interest in a relationship with this man, but I do have two small children to think of.

at his age, and for the amount of time he has been clean, I would say the chances are pretty good that he has seen the error of his ways, and has truely decided to clean up and move on to a life of sobriety.....good luck

This is hard because once an addict ALWAYS an addict. It really depends on HIM. You never know when addicts will fall off the wagon....neither do they. I tried to live life with an addict over and over again and it failed to the point that I REFUSE to get with an addict. This is my experience...it doesnt have to be yours. A apart of me wants to say take the chance...the other part wants to say don't do it. So I say he needs to get his own place and you need to feel him out for a while. I wouldn't expose him to the kids unless I knew for sure he was going to be around. Its a wait and see type of thing.

a lot of people can change and kick the habit, but then again some people dont change so you have to be cautious, im not saying dont date him, but keep a hawk eye out for his behavior, but dont act like mother hen, because if he really did kick the habit, he will resent you for not trusting him
