What made you choose to go forth and lead a life based on a manuscript written by men centuries ago? Did you see God, Jesus or a miracle in your lifetime to make you believe? Or did you have a huge hole in your life and you decided to fill it with something other people told you to instead of drugs and sex and fun?

Also, why do you wish to convince other people? Atheists don't go around with bumper stickers saying God doesn't exist or Jesus was a human or whatever.

Apparently I can't blame my brain for not believing in god.

If God exists, and I die and I have to face him, I would be like : "Dude, where were you?"

Can't blame me for his absent-mindedness.

I agree that faith is behaviorally reinforced by the social interaction of followers, I think them going to church is like me going to the bar, we both end up meeting a lot of cool people. I think I'd rather have the bar. At least you can smoke in there and there's no badly played organ.

This is strictly my opinion...but...I think that people chose a life of faith because it makes them feel safe. They feel like they are a part of a group and that gives them comfort. Its something to look to for all of the bad things that happen in life. It gives people hope and allows them to in a sense avoid real life issues and just turn to faith to help them through it. I am not bashing anyone out there for their beliefs. I am just stating what I have seen a lot of.

What makes you believe in science or evolution or whatever else? It is what you read, are taught, etc. And that is what you choose. God, Jesus, the Bible, that is just another choice as is any religion.

Faith is just believing in something that can not be proven or seen. Personally, I think believing in evolution is a heck of a lot harder than any religion. Religions are usually pretty defined with details, etc. Evolution is much more complicated...lots more that you have to have faith in.

And I have seen Christians and Atheists both go around proclaiming what they believe to others with the bumper stickers and stuff. I have also seen some Christians and Atheists who don't. That is more of a personality thing. People stereotype one or the other depending on their point of view which is unfortunate.

Good luck to you on your search.

The reason I decided to live my life for the Lord is just the experience I have had, he has truely impacted my life in ways I could not explain. All I can say is i hope the Lord touches your life like he did mine. The EVIDENCE is my life and His Word. if you ever study the Bible you will see the truth and similarities in life today. I would like to challenge you to disprove the Bible, if you could disprove any fictional book, this should be simple, right? we all make a choice, you either chose to accept it as truth or turn away needing cold hard fact in front of your face. I don't undersatnd how people ask for evidence, isn't there enough, what more do you want? Do you just want to see the face of God and won't be convinced otherwise? I, personally, think that is foolish and self-centered, but that is just the way it is. Most people say " you believe the way you do b/c of your parents" Well, I'll tell you my mother let me make my own choice and I still choose to love and trust the Lord. I don't expect any of this to change you, or anyone else, we all believe what we choose to believe, nothing i can say to you will change your beliefs, and nothing you say to me will change mine. I will pray for you to know what I know, without it being forced upon you. I do that with love in my heart and hope you except it with respect and peace in yours.

I am of The True Christian Faith. Those of The Faith do not base their "faith" upon any manuscript. The Faith of the True Christian is in The promise of God to them in The Truth of their Salvation.

concider how long your mortal life might be... then concider how long eternity will be... is a moments mortal satisfaction so important to you that you would lose an eternity of peace to gain....what?

God works with each person individualy. How he worked with me is not the way he might work with you, should you ever hear His call and choose to answer. However ones Salvation is God's free gift to any one who comes to Him in The Way He proscribes. No one gets there through a book. But The Book can be the guide if The Holy Spirit leads the study of it. If The Holy Spirit dose not guide then nothing will be gained from the reading of it. I did not even own a Bible, nore was anyone reading it to me, on the day of my Salvation. It was just God and me.

Yes Atheists do go around with bumper stickers bad mouthing God and His people. I see them all the time. And many are extreamly gross and pornographic.

My faith in Jesus fills my heart with hope and Love. Only a fellow believer understands. The world cannot. A person who dons the bumper sticker is showing their love for God by witnessing . That's what we are suppose to do, tell others about this wonderful life. We Love our Lord more than anything.

even nevertheless that is confusing to interrupt it down into possibilities like this, i might ought to wager that that is approximately 60/40, feeling/questioning. i'm Wiccan. the sensation is accessible in while i glance on the face of the moon and 'see' the Goddess (not interior the shadows, yet interior the moon herself) or 'hear' the God's voice on the chilly wintry climate wind. The questioning section is harder to describe, different than to declare that sitting by way of an astronomy lecture on how the only stars that have planetary structures around them are the stars formed of the gasses from loss of life stars (novas) abruptly the completed Wiccan considered reincarnation looks established via fact in hassle-free terms from loss of life then comes life... make any experience?

We all live a life of faith. You believe in air yet you breathe and you don't see it. You believe in electricity yet do you really check your wires every day to see if electricity is flowing. No you go (by faith) to the switch and turn the light on. By faith you turn the
water faucet on believing that water will flow out (that is if you
pay your water bill....)
Why not believe in a loving God that wants only the best for you. He has a plan and destiny for your life. I have seen blind eyes open, cancer gone, arms grow out and all but the greatest is seeing a life that is full of hate and anger turn to God and be healed of all the inner hurts and become a loving and giving person. I have seen people delivered of drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes immediately, others have had to work on it and if they cling to God, they were set free.
We all believe in things that others have taught us so no you
don't have a missing part but if you don't believe in Jesus
there is a part of you that is missing.

There is evidence to these things we believe. You may not choose to listen to it though. The Bible says that "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." This isn't like believing in Santa Claus. Jesus is an actual proven historical figure and I believe with all my heart that He is the one and only Savior of the world. The reason that we share our faith is because that's what Jesus told us to do. If you really want to know why we believe what we believe, read the book of John in the Bible. I've said this before and I'll say it again. If I'm wrong about all of this, I've lost nothing. If you're wrong though, you will lose everything. I hope that you'll at least read about it for yourself.

I did have a miracle happen to make me believe in a church setting. Without it, I probably find it hard to comprehend with the mind this faith thing. You can have an experience with Jesus if you so sincerely desire. Just call on Him.

It is not about appeal. It is about faith, about something that you can not know unless you try it for yourself. And evidence is not wherein the answer always lies. Would you not agree? Of all things that have been overcome, ponder all those that came to be without evidence. It should not anger non believers like it seems to if they miss the point of faith. Rather they should try to seek it if they seek understanding.
