Were getting married in June and are having a garden themed wedding. Were getting married at my parents house in the lawn but are having our reception at at a reception hall. Our budget is $5,000. Does anyone have any ideas on favors, decorations, flowers? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have been given so many responses when i asked this before- try checking out www.theknot.com. They have everything you will need.

Also try to scroll through some of the past questions asked on here similar to yours. I think 5000 is a splended amount to have for the wedding.

Get your favors from Oriental trading company- you can order a catalog through them as well. Start to buy things now, and whenever you see them on sale so you arent rushing to get them in June.

Since it is a garden theme, Maybe you can place flower pots on the tables as centerpieces with silk flowers in them, surrounded by babys breath. use a lot of spring colors like green, pink, yellow.

As far as flowers, ask your local florist what he would suggest. Most can get you great deals on flowers when you arent being overly picky (they can buy them fresh the day of your wedding)

Your food should be light- if you are going for the garden theme. Maybe some salad, chicken of some sort or appetizers. If you are going on feeding them fully- check out with caterers in your area- some offer discounts for larger orders.

As far as the hall is concerned- the earlier that you use it in the day, the better rates you will have (they can re-rent the room if you use it early in the day.

Congratulations!

I'm doing a wedding at this moment with the same budget. Here is how you break down and know how much to spend on what.
40-45% Reception&Caterer
7-9% Music
3% Bakery
9% photographer
5% Videographer
10% Wedding attire
9% Flowers & decorations
4% invitations
4% Ceromony& Officaint fee
2% Transportation
3% Rental items
3% Gifts
2% parties
2% mis.
Keep in mind thats just adverage. You can save in places like if you know someone who will give you discounts ect.DO NOT RENT! it is so expensive and if something breaks you just bought it. I put my wedding together for $1,500. Contact me if you need some help. I do help people for free. Where favors are concerned, go with the Hershey kiss roses. $50 will make around 250. My brides just love them. colleenjoy79@yahoo.com

The library has tons of books about saving money for a wedding. If this is a wedding that will run into the evening, use paper lanterns and candles as centerpieces. They are very affordable, and make the atmosphere very charming. The biggest must on a budget it when it comes to flowers: use the ones that are readily available and in season. This by itself will save a lot of money. Even if in the day time, make your own centerpieces, or make a 'break away' centerpiece with the favors. This way, your favors double as the filler for the table, and your guests will enjoy picking up their stuff from a pretty display.

Check out a book called, A big wedding on a small budget, by Diane Warner. It has all kinds of ways to cut costs. Most of the people who used her book & wrote in did a GREAT wedding for under $5,000.
