I grew up with a mother who was an anorexic & she was under 90 pounds most of my childhood. (she is 5'2") Now she is very healthy &
has overcome this & she is a certified clinical nutritionist. Would it be rude to ask my friend to talk to my mother? I really think she needs the talk. I don't want to lose a friend by getting in her buisness but i'm afraid if i don't i will lose her anyhow from starvation. She is always making comments about her being fat. She used to wear a size 18 & got on some diet pills & lost a ton of weight fast. Well the pills made her really moody & mean to everyone. Now i never see her eat anymore & she is down to a size 00..What can i do? I don't even know if she will listen to me.

I have talked to her about the anorexia & she gets very angry & defensive & usually cusses me out. I try to be understanding but it is hard i'm a teenager like her & i guess i'll call my mom but i'm afraid she will yell at my mom & i hope she dont but i guess my mom has been through it & can handle it better than i can..

honey, i don't believe that you will be losing your friend because you "got into her business." would you rather lose her entirely if something serious happens? no, right?

so PLEASE do yourself a favor and do her a favor... ask your mom for advice also. I know this might be a sensitive topic for your friend to discuss but she must know that it is doing no good for anyone...

anorexia (or any other eating disorder) is serious and can lead to death... sorry, not meaning to scare you but you should already know by now.

Why don't you talk to your mom first. Having been through that ordeal, she may have a suggestion for how you can approach your friend without alienating her.

I would try to get her to talk to your mom. Better to loose a friend because you tried to help her, than to loose the friend to death!

if you don't she won't be around very long. i had a friend waste away to the critical unit and it took drastic measures to get her back to square one.
