I personally prefer the privacy and background noise of a railroad yard, like behind a dumpster somewhere. After a day or two of relaxing with a couple bottles of good stuff - medicinally motivated I mean - it's easier to go through withdrawal and throwing up in the dirt behind the dumpster, than be out where someone jumps to conclusions and calls for police or ambulance help.

Why bother drinking in the street? I think its much more enjoyable in a lounge, pub , or bar with music , friends, and maybe a nice dinner also. No need to go in the street? In most places thats not the normal place to have a drink.

It depends where you live, some towns in the UK its illegal to drink on the street in town centres or certain parts of a town. Where I live it isn' t but my local council are debating whether to stop it after trouble during the world cup

It varies from place to place I think, and depending on where you live the police may or maynot enforce it. I know in my town its a local bylaw not allowing drinking on the street and the police will confiscate it, especially from underage kids and from the people out causing trouble. I think they let it pass sometimes if you are not causing a nuisance

Different states have different rules. I know here in California you have to have it in a paper bag, not out in the open. And then again in Vegas, you can walk around with a bottle of Johnny Walker and no one will say a thing, except for maybe can I have a sip or yeah, that's the way to party!

Depends on what city. Some cities will allow and some won't. There is the "Open container" law that prohibits it. However, if you can drink in the streets you can still get hit with public drunkenness.
