Please don't listen to some of the other comments on here. Some people are so immature. They would never have the guts to enter the military. What you need to do is start walking and doing some kind of aerobic exercises. Start off slow, you don't want your muscles to get sore. You should probably drop down to about 170-180. So basically 40+ lbs. You can probably do that within 6 months.
Good Luck and don't give up on your dreams!

To lose weight, you have to spend more calories in a day than you take in. Forget the fads, forget the South Beach and Adkins. Those take weight off temporarilly, but it comes back.
It's simple. If you eat 2000 calories in a day, and you only burn 1800, you gained 200 calories for that day, and that translates into fat. You body didn't need it, so it stored it. The human body is extremely efficient, only using what it needs, and storing the rest for later usage. If you don't use up the extra, you gain weight.
As to how much to lose, talk to your recruiter about that. He or she will know more about that than anyone else.

@ 5'3" and 228, you should probably lose about 50lbs. That should get you in the door to the Navy. After that, don't worry, they will take the rest off of you in training.

At 5'3 you should weigh approximately 140-150 lbs. The bigger problem is that you're in 12th grade and cant even write a basic English sentence. This is very troubling.
