When things go well...we enjoy our peace. When things are challenging...we seek answers. Which is the better growth mode?

"They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one." - Psalm 14:3

"And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God." - Mark 10:18

No one is a 'good person'. There are two types of people: 'sinner' and 'repentant sinner'.

Think of it this way. You get a wild mustang... he bucks, and kicks, and won't permit anyone to ride him, and flees upon seeing any kind of saddle. So, what does the horse trainer do? He breaks the horse's spirit. Things are denied from the horse, and only given to him once the horse obeys. Soon, after so much struggle, the horse finally ceases bucking and biting and running, but instead, walks up meekly, ready to accept the saddle or the hitch or the bridle. And then he is rewarded. A wild horse is no good to a farmer, all that'll accomplish is tearing up the crops. Yet a meek and reliable horse is the one most valued to the farmer. He knows he can trust that horse to plow in a straight line, or to walk slowly when the farmer's young son rides him.

Hardships help us to realize just how much we need God... and a wild and untamed heart does no good in God's greater plan, but a meek heart, one that is broken in spirit, and willing to accept whatever is given, that is the one that learns the fastest, and holds true the strongest.

The wild horse cannot be taught anything. The one that has had its spirit broken makes the most suitable horse for any task... but only through hardships is the horse broken.

When God created us he gave us free will. We put ourselves though life. God does not want us to go through life miserable. He loves us very much. Life is hard and there are temptation and trials. Have you ever read Job? He was so loyal to God that God knew that he would never turn or curse his name. Job had everything taken from him his children his wealth and his health. but after his trials and all God gave him everything back plus some. I encourage you to read it.

How many of the things we go through are the result of our own choices? or the choices of our ancestors or others?

The assumption here is that people can be good enough that God owes them something.

The devil is allowed to test us. See Job. But in the end Job came out ahead!

I think if God solved all of our problems, then the ultimate gift of "Free Will" would be largely wasted.

It's a test to see if we are worthy of Heaven.

To test and strengthen us. So that we can prove to God our worthiness and that He can prove to us our strength.
