Groomsmen are the male equivilant to bridesmaids - they stand up with the groom during the wedding service just like the bridesmaids stand with the bride. The ushers just help people to their seats. Double check the etiquette and you might be able to have some groomsmen do double duty as ushers since the ushering is done when the service begins. :) But offhand I don't think I've been to a wedding where men both usher and are groomsmen at the same service. :)

The groomsmen walk down the aisle with the bridesmaids and stand to the right of the groom. Ushers walk people down the aisle to their seats. However, I think they can do both.

Groomsmen are the guys that actually stand at the alter with the groom Ushers are the ones that escort everyone to their seats. You know the ones that you feel like you have to include as part of the ceremony just because your mother says!!! LOL

Groomsmen have a bridesmaid, and go down the aisle, but ushers don't necessarily. They are usually single guys just there to help people to their pews.

an usher just shows people to his/her seat. A grooms men stands at the alter with the groom like a bridesmaid does for a bride
