Hi there...there are surprisingly many cats who beg their owners for food. If we give into the kitty's temptations they will continue to beg. However, one can train the behaviour to be eliminated by feeding their cat with their own food while we eat our own meals.

Here's a video of a cute cat begging/praying: http://youtube.com/watch?v=A1DJ2hoXu3s&mode=related&search=

my cat always begs. They are greedy animals. Try giving it food at certain times of the day for about a month and only at that time. Also, hide the food bowl when you've given it to the cat so that it cant see food all the time.

My cats all beg for food, they are on a time schedule and know when I am going to feed them. So your cat is not strange, just on a feeding schedule. Remember cats are creatures of habit.

My cats don't beg because I never gave them table food to begin with. But I do know cats who beg, and my oldest cat WILL prance and beg for tuna water when I open a can of tuna.

My cats always beg for food....and the switch off on each other plates. I think the food sharing is more weird than the begging.
But yes. they beg anytime I'm close to their food they whine and circle me...sometimes they claw at my feet.

No it's normal. When I open a can of tuna they go nuts trying to get it. We had pizza one night, cat sat there by my feet meowing, next thing I know, she's on the table, snagged a piece of pizza, and was running off with it, all in about 3 seconds.

Your cat isn't strange, it's just normal! All cats beg for food like dogs do. It all depends on how much you give in to it. lol We have 3 kittens(outside; they come in on occasion) one of them will literally jump into my husbands bag of potato chips and start chowing down on them. Go figure...chips...lol

I feed my cats at 6am, 6pm, and 10pm and my cats know when the time is coming I can't even sleep till 6:01am with out getting pounced on by my cats telling me it's time for me to wake up and give them food. at about 5:50pm my one cat will come into the living room where I usually am and start meowing untill I follow him out to the kitchen to feed them. they aren't as demanding for the 10pm feeding, that is more for us so we don't get a 3am wake up call.
