Why do some not all Christians make non-Christians their enemy?

Some Christians, while probably having been saved and attend church, don't really know the true meaning of what Jesus was all about. Wow, I only had to read one sentence of that question...

Nobody should be a Christian's enemy; rather we are supposed to love our enemies even more so than our allies, so that they might see our love and be changed in their hearts, or at least so that they will experience the love of God as He means it to be.

I think Luveniar hit the nail on the head...even though it was unintentional.
Her answer saying that Christians have no enemies, followed by an explanation of how really good Christians love their enemies for the purpose of changing them; clearly demonstrates the nature of Xtian confusion.

For the rest of us loving someone means accepting them; as they are. It's unconditional. It means serving them when they need it. Not, serving our agenda for them.
For Christians-and the god they have fashioned-love and acceptance are dependent on right behavior. They use the idea of love and whatever else they have to bargain with in a conscious attempt to interfere with and direct your life. It's a very abusive relationship. For some-not all-your refusal to succumb to their idea of right behavior is punishable.

PS I'm not saying that Luveniar is like that, only that her answer is a great example of the practice that has led to the confusion.

some are confused I guess - I am unsure of what scripture that guy was quoting since he did not reference it, but it was probably taken out of context - maybe Jesus was talking about the time of Jerusalem's final fall in 70 AD

Jesus said to love our enemies. Also, the principal of not killing our fellow man still applies. Jesus refused to fight when they arrested him, even though he had told Peter to bring his sword - which was so that he would have the opportunity to show that we cannot live by the sword (John 18:10)

Jesus also said the we must treat others as we want to be treated.

So, as you can see, there are some "Christians" who do not live up to their name. Thank you for recognizing that not all Christians are the same.

This is the best way to win the war. You MUST have an enemy first before going to battle. Chapter 1: verse 1 of "The Art of Biblical Warfare".

Fear of any other point of view scares them. They can only see within a narrow margin. To them the bible is everything and they have been told by others what every scripture means. To actually believe that this book was written by men, is more than they can comprehend.

You know what, I wouldn't have so much trouble with the new testament if it had stopped at the gospels. Once Paul got involved, it went off in a tangent. By the way, according to that book, did Jesus ever actually use the word hell?

They immerse themselves so deeply into the writings of a 2000 yr old book that they lose touch with modern reality. It becomes those only like myself against everyone else. Luckily for us, the everyone elses, they are the minority.

Nothing unites a group better than fear and hatred of a common enemy. Even if their perceived enemy loves them, they must create the illusion of hatred to self induce fear. Hence the phrase "if you're not with us, you're against us". Scary scary sh*t.

good questions.. cause hypocritical christians who are legalists tend to think they are perfect when really no one is prefect or good. Its by Grace we are all saved. None of us deserve it... if christians can keep a humble attitude then it would be better.. But it gets hard beacause no one is perfect. and yea we mess up. but again we all deserve hell as sinners and Jesus saved us when we called out to him in repentace.

The same reason why we have racist people in the world.... they don't see others the same as they see themselves. Which is wrong, regardless of your color, race or religious beliefs we are all equal in the eyes of God.
