Yes it happens time and time again that a rapist is freed only to commit the same crime over and over again. Judges too often use personal opinion when the law and punishment should prevail. Cons are experts at pleading their cases (they have years to study psychology, law ect. and such and even get degrees in law, and use democracy to their advantage to get released to commit the same crimes again.
A lot of judges think they are Godlike, and predetermine their cases under that ruse. A lot of judges also think the world is their banker, and were the convict to have money his chances of being freed is much better. Judges play Golf with other lawyers, and doctors and may cases go to psychiatrist who show or have little care fo rthe victim, but move heaven and high water to save what he/her feels is their case or silver pocket liner. It's ironic that psychiatrist (Psychiatrists had the highest suicide rate of any specialty) who are convicts first line of defense ion getting freed is the first in him/her/ self in suffering mental conditions.
For example if the average joe/jane commits enough crimes to send him/her to prison for 40 years it and it is likely he/her will be given a new or inexperienced Lawyer under a judge's ruling, and will receive miminal service from the Court and the Lawyer.
Were the case to be a high profile case which can send lawyers and judges into higher political offices down the road the defendent could find him/herself with the best lawyers available.

I totally agree! why shoule people think they should get away with sin. Yes God is so good. But because he is good he punishes the sinner. that why people have to realize not everyone is going to heaven. its the true repentant person who has turne dfrom trheir sin. and loves God

Do you need to be punished? Have you committed such a sin that you need to spend eternity in hell?
Judges mostly hope for redemption of their criminals, in this life or the next. Often they hope to see the criminal return to society.
Eternity in hell is not a place to go to learn to live within the rules.

I certainly hope not! The Scripture says, "Obey the ordinances (laws) of the land for the Lord's sake". Meaning, thou shalt not steal, kill, covet, and etc. If the laws of the Bible are ingrained into the laws of the land, we are bound by our obligation to God to obey or suffer the penalty of law!

Don't confuse the reality of law with faith in a higher power.
The judge is going to jail you no matter what you believe.

I'm sure God would take great delight in sending such a person to His personal eternal torture chamber.
