I've already tried Scratch repair products. I think what happened
was when I stored DVDs in memorex plastic storage sleeves, the disk reacted chemically on the read surface. As a result it liquified and looks like syruppy gunkky splotches on the disk that won't wash away. Should I get a resurfacing spray? therefore hopefully creating a more transparent
surface. The Allera product creates swirls due to the buff and polish method, and if examined closely you can see radial scratches, i am therefore reluctant to use that method too often and I've had somewhat marginal sucess with this product.

try a product called disc RX or disc doctor, they shave off a layer of plastic, and i think they apply a plastic like substance, other than that, the data layer might be damaged, any scratches to the top, the one with all the pictures and fancy writing, if thats scratched, the disc is bad, toss it, nothing can revive it. DONT FREZE IT the water will get into the scratches and what does water do when frozen? expand, it will be like the jaws of life on a car wreck, you might be liucky and make the scratch into a crack, or make the disc explode
