Where can I download the english or spanish version of the Koran online? I want to read it and judge it for myself. I would like something similar like e-Sword which is a software, but if you know a site that has all the scriptures send it too.

I find Abdullah Yusef Ali's translation the best ... there's a spanish link too

peace unto you

p.s. jtripper816 why would you claim something like that? .. what the original poster is doing is commendable ... she's seeking out for herself and not feeding off of stereotypes and lies like you.

If you are serious about reading the Quran you should not read it online. I don't think online versions are reliable. Please buy it in book form, Oxford University Press have an excellent translation out which many students use.

**EDIT**

jtripper816 - I don't know where you get your information from but I can tell you that very few Muslims will not object to a non-Muslim reading the Quran in book form. The book itself states that it is a book for the whole of humanity, even ar se fa ce, if indeed he is human. And why would it be an exercise in futility? Look around, the vast majority pull opinions and assumptions out of thin air without even attempting to understand the subject matter at first hand. Please don't be ignorant and assume there is nothing to this book, when clearly so many have taken so much from it. Chances are that kandykills isn't going to ever convert as she is reading it out of curiosity and interest with a view to gain a better understanding. With this knowledge she wont deem it necessary to slag off anyone and instead will be able to take part in important discussions and debate.

I just wish that there were more people like her around.

Hi,

I'm not usually in this category, but there's a reason why I look familiar to you, I was just here and I got a best answer and I came back to look and I saw you wrote another question although the topic is quite a bit different.

This one is not being answered from my personal experience, this one requires me to do research for you.

I have found links for you that have free English or Spanish translations of the holy Koran (Quran) but they are translations of arabic and therefore they are translations of someones interpretations. As such they are disclaimed as being not as good as if you were to learn arabic and read from the arabic.

I don't expect you're going to do that. I don't expect I'm going to do that. I had a hard enough time learning hebrew over a five year period three days a week, two hours a day, and I *-may-* try to rehabilitate that skill set in the future, but right now my two years of high school spanish seem more useful to me in life.

that said, back to your research project because I'm just a helpful person...

I actually found more language translations than just English and Spanish. In some cases the links I found have more than one translation (because they are translations and not the pure arabic) for each language.

Have fun reading!

Search Parameters. I did a Yahoo! Search for "The Koran" and started looking at the top results.

Hi Mrs. Candykills!

Apple for the teacher? (Im kidding)

I have been thinking about the same thing lately myself but I plan on going to the used book store and actually picking up a copy to add to my library. I have every other scripture but that on in print.

I think that it is great that you are intelligent enough to educate yourself and from that learn first hand how to be tolerant with an understanding of our differences.

Okay... you don't suck after all! I'll erase it from behind the world map on the blackboard... LOL...

Just remember as you read it that if you get it in actual book form,as in a real copy of the Koran that many muslims consider it bad that you as a non-believer should even touch it,it's not just what's in the book that matters it's what the believers of the book use it to belive about the world and to justify that matters. In other words it's not worth reading,it's an exercise in futility.

Read the Qur'an but also the stories and reasons for the revelations as the Qur'an is often quoted out of context!! :-)
