First if you have a pollen or other airborne allergy, keep your windows all closed in your house and car at all times. I live in the country and only have fall allergies, I almost forgot cuz I had the windows open all summer till 2 weeks ago I got so sick. Don't hang clothes out on the line, and if anything has been outside clean it before bringing it in. Minimize hanging out outside during allergy season (I know its a bummer but it helps).
Furthermore try the homeopathic remedy histaminium, it really works for me. It is not like a regular medication it is energetic and has absolutely no side effects. I know some people aren't sure about natural remedies but you won't know unless you try. You will have to go to a natural food type store for it.

Hi. I'm having similar problems where prescription allergy meds no longer work so I am looking for a different approach to treatment. I mentioned it to my chiropractor who told me to take Multizyme. He gave me an old newsletter he had come across where people swear by this enzyme supplement.
It's made by Standard Process, Inc. and called Multizyme. Only drs are allowed to sell it supposedly, but I did find Amazon.com has it a bit cheaper than my dr. I took the pills and it did seem to dry up the post nasal drip and slow up the constant embarrassing sneezing.
I was told to take 2 capsules three times a day and 45 minutes before or after food. If you take it with food it helps with digestion, but if you take it on empty stomach its suppose to clear histamines or something out of the bloodstream. I don't how it works exactly, but it does work.

I don't like the idea of relying on meds most of the time either: Sometimes the meds themselves would make me ill.
Keep the allergens out of your environment if you can. Dust with a damp rag a lot, and use some kind of air cleaner. And if the allergies are really bad, when you go out wear a painter's mask: It will save you a ton of misery.

I would suggest first trying all-natural and resonably priced Alfalfa Complex which has helped many others find relief from their allergies.
Because the roots reach as deep as 20 feet into the soil, they are able to bring forth minerals in their most natural form. Recognized for centuries for its healing properties, alfalfa offers a wide range of nutrients: calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, chlorophyll, bioflavonoids, trace minerals, and vitamins.
Has been very successful in relieving allergies, asthma, sinus problems, etc.
Hope this is helpful and for more info or the website, feel free to contact me.

Immunotherapy technically is not medicine, since it is a tiny extract of the pollen. Some people say local honey helps them. Others are helped by 1 gram of vitamin C or taking bayberry pills. I have also heard stinging nettle recommended.

What I do is hang around whatever im allergic to and build up a tolerance. It takes a long time but is better than pills.

adrenaline is the only natural antihistamine we know of.
of course though...it's an impractical countermeasure against allergies.
