CAIRO, Egypt -Osama bin Laden's deputy warned that Persian Gulf countries and Israel would be al-Qaida's next targets, according to a new videotape aired by Arab broadcaster Al-Jazeera on Monday, the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Ayman al-Zawahri accused the governments of Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia of supporting Israel's war against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Addressing the West, the al-Qaida No. 2 said: "You should not waste your time in reinforcing your troops in Iraq and Afghanistan because they are doomed to defeat and are already all but defeated."
"Instead, you have to reinforce your troops in two regions. First is the Gulf, where you will be thrown out after you are defeated in Iraq, at which point your economic ruin will be achieved," he said. "The second is Israel, because the jihad reinforcements are getting closer to it."
If you run, we will find you. If you fight, we will defeat you.

I had it checked with friends in Indonesia and Pakistan, the two countries with the largest Muslim population. No one has ever acclaimed Zawahiri as a 'great' writer. Infact no one there has ever seen his face. For them it is a shadow figure and they wonder at AlJazeera's prompting of persons like him, saying rather loudly that AlJazeera is another CIA outfit ! To serious seekers of knowledge about Muslims and Islam, the truly great writers exist,among other places, at a Seminary in Connecticut. They publish a quarterly :The Muslim World: for 96 years now and their articles have always been acclaimed by Muslim readers as well as by others. The latest issue was on Pakistan. The reading of this quarterly is recommended to all the sober seekers of knowledge at this great Yahoo/ forum. Please pay no heed to trumpters like Zawahiri, and do not take him seriously. Such persons have always existed at all the places.

And will ignorant non-Muslims stop connecting them with Islam, they are not Muslims just because they claim to be. I mean if you look at the Klu Klux Klan, you don't get a very tolerant vision of christianity. Or of the entire USA not so long ago when they practiced segregation and slaughter of African Americans and believed they were being good christians.
