Can anyone recommend an nice northern Ontario town that's great to live in and raise a family? My husband and I are looking to move up north, and by up north I mean at least as far as North Bay. Thanks!

I think that Thessalon is a wonderful place. It is close to the Soo so you aren't miles from civilization. The schools are great. It is small enough to be a very small town and yet big enough for necessities. It is right on Lake Huron and a river and has lots of activities for both children and adults. There is fishing and snow machine trails galore. Naturally there are a lot of small towns in Northern Ontario but Thessalon appears to one of the best.

North Bay is a great town. If you are looking for something smaller check out Elliot Lake I have a friend that wanted to move here from Germany he came here and traveled Canada coast to coast, he chose Bracebridge. Go figure!

I lived in Thunder Bay for a year. There are mountains for skiing - lots of fishing and hunting - outdoor sports. There are malls and stores there so you are not so cut off from civilization.
