Going back into the job market is a very scary thing - I left administration and worked as a Kindergarten aide for 3 years in order to be with my son as he attended school in a foreign country. When we returned to the States, I applied and got a job only to find out that my skills were nothing like they were 3 years prior! Technology had advanced and I had not - thankfully my immediate supervisor and co-worker saw potential and after a few months I was back up to speed and loving my job! God bless!

1. Be very happy that you got the job.
2. Take it 1 assignment at a time - realize it's only 8 hours, and you'll get through it.
3. Be CONFIDENT - they hired you for a reason.
4. It might take some time for you to get back into the hang of things - but just be happy your out of the house making money!

Try not to be scared--you have nothing to lose by applying and interviewing for jobs. You do not have to make an instant decision when offered a job--it is acceptable to take a day to think it over. Be positive and smile a lot. Good Luck!

Go to your state's employment training centers and take advantage of the resources they have, like resume writing, interview skills, how to search for jobs, etc. In nine years, the very way that jobs are advertised and filled has changed, and you need to get as much info as you can to adapt.
It can be an adventure, you just have to see it the right way - but I urge you to make a plan for your job search and not simply click to apply.
Good luck!

I havent got any tips but its only been 2 years for me but still when i go for interview for a job im turned away because of my gap. I dont get the government they expect you to work but how can we when we get turned away for having children to care for.
Tips: Be yourself, truth is best thing, calm minded, little twitchiness. sit properly and most one greet with a good hand shake and a smile through out the whole interview.
Good luck and hope you get it and its eassier for u than me lol. Let us know

Honey I am in the same issue you are! I am getting ready to go back to work soon and I am really worried! My girls are 6 yrs old and 8 yrs old and I stopped working when I had my first daughter. Now that they are both in school I can go back to work. I need to find hours that work with their school hours and I will be fine!

Its natural to be scared, even just changing your job is scary enough.
Try to be confident and show a willingness to learn. Try to make some friends at work and be yourself... Also try to have fun, if you enjoy what youre going to do it wont feel like work.
Im sure you will be fine.... Good luck x

It's the fear of the unknown. You'll be fine once you get a job and get started. I'ts a scary time but well worth it. I don't regret going back to work one bit.
