War is not a nice thing. Up until Viet-Nam when the peaceniks started running the war, you killed anyone who stuck his head up. Now if he is not wearing a uniform, people raise hell about killing civilians. Regardless of what you think about Viet-Nam the war was prosecuted wrong. The objective is to win. You cannot win anything if you stand in your yard and don't leave it. You must take the battle to the enemy. Korea was the same way, "Don't go past this line." (38th parallel)
In all previous wars, any one on the other side was shot. This takes away the will of the people who are supporting the war. Many German soldiers did not support the war, they were just doing their duty as soldiers and at the first opportunity, surrendered.
In the Gulf War of 1991, enemy soldiers surrendered by the thousands because of the bombing.
So, the question: Are we being too nice?
My opinion is yes. If our troops enter into a battle trying to eliminate collateral damage, the battle may never be won.
If a few of the civilians get killed, they will rise up against the terrorists themselves.
If you are not for us (US), you are against us.
In Viet-Nam they had a slogan:"Kill 'em all, Let God sort 'em out."
Note: I am not an advocate of war, and I am not anti-war, but an advocate of "If you are going to do a job, do it right."

I think the US has the ability to take out all of the middle east and their allies, but since we are a democratic country we will not strike without being first striken.... I think it is sad. I would love to be on the offense for once and give all the people who think they can mess with the US what they have coming! If there was a way to do this, and still protect the innocent, I would run for president just to carry the orders out. Unforunantly the whole Mid East isnt bad, just that the ones who are bad are incharge of the ones who dont have the freedom to speak.

I DO!!! I think the bureaucrats should take the leash off of our troops.
Abu Grai (SP) some prisoners are roughed up and humiliated its global news. Meanwhile, our people are kidnapped and filmed while being beheaded and its no big deal.....
Our Special Ops troops are capturing terrorist leaders but we cant use effective measures to interrogate them.
The Democratic party has neutered our military. We should be fighting fire with fire.

I don't think we're too nice. I believe that our morality and our values are what seperate us as a Nation from all the others out there. It's what makes us great.

If we didn't hold human lives as equally valuable, we'd be no better than the countries in the Middle East.

Hmmmm....let's put it like this......im currently here participating in the war, and if i were on gate gaurd and a car bomb was hauling towards my location, i would have to think twice before putting a bullet in the drivers head; due to the fact that actually engaging him would cause me to be interrogated by a whole lot of people who would tell me to win the hearts and minds. In other words.....YES!!

I do, considering what those heathens are doing to our men and women over there. They would never treat us so kindly, they'd lob off our heads.
