I fly to about 25 destinations a year for business. The following tips will make things much easier.
1. When you pack, plan on checking as much of your luggage as you can. Only carry what you absolutely need, and be aware of the carry on restrictions, no liquid, no sharps, no tools, etc. Don't worry about checking your bags, I have had only a bag lost 3 times since 1987. See the following link for details, click on link that looks like it would best match your travel. http://www.delta.com/traveling_checkin/flight_status_updates/index.jsp
2. Read the signs and follow instructions. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't argue with the air line agents, flight attendants or anyone else for that matter, even if you are right.
3. If you are going someplace where no one will be meeting you, find out as much about the destination air port as you can (use the internet to do that).
4. Make sure you have made all or your other transpiration arraignments before you get there, such as shuttles, car rentals, etc. You can argue with those guys. Check rates on the internet so you don't get taken advantage of.
5. If you are going to another country be sure you know the customs and laws. Also, be aware of the traps like taxies in Sweden will charge you $200 to 300 for a 30 mile ride.
6. Have fun, it is more dangerous to drive to the airport than it is to fly on a plane. There are 0.022 fatal accidents per 100,000 departures on average over the last 3 years. There are more traffic accidents with injuries and fatalities in California in one day than there are in all of aviation in a week.

The security since then is top notch! I'd be more afraid if it wasn't. You have to go through several metal dectectors at the airport, your luggage will be screened (don't lock it or airport personnel will open it and look through it), etc. There's security ALL over the place at the airport as well.
As for the actual flying....bring something along so you won't be as nervous on the plane. Magazines, a book, CD player, etc. Also, don't forget chewing gum. It will help for the pressure in your ears during take off and landing. Good Luck and Happy Vacation!

Remember you don't have to be in an airplne to be in an airplane crash. Look at all the people 0n 9/11 they weren't even on a plane. I work for the airlines and they are STILL the safest way to travel.

What is your question? Go to the doctor, sometimes they will give you a couple of valium or something for your anxiety. If you can't get over it, and start freaking out on the plane, you will ruin your family's vacation when you get removed from the plane.

Just bear in mind that thousands of people fly daily and real incidents are very scarce. Now the security level at airports is at the very high level of orange assuring a higher safety level. Try, rather than thinking of the travel, focus on the destination, and blessings to you and yours.

Have a few drinks to calm down or perhaps have someone give you a sedative or knock you out and all will be well. BTW buddy up above it was more than 2 planes, I think by now you should know the facts.

Why do plane crashes make the news? Because they are rare. Why don't auto accidents? Right, too common. Flying is still safer than driving.

9/11 was a incedent and it could probably happen again but i highly doubt that
Remember that planes crash less than cars by like 1000%
