no it is full of lycopene which is extremely good for you
this chemical is found naturally in tomatos and even processed tomatos have it in them so tomato sauce is actually very good for you (as long as you get the low sugar/salt variety)

Con:
If it’s made from tomatoes, it must be healthy, right? If you’re talking about ketchup, perhaps not. While ketchup is high in vitamins C and A, it’s also really high in sugar. Look on the label and you’ll see corn syrup listed high on the ingredient list, which means there’s a lot sugar in there, giving you good reason to take caution if you tend to be too liberal with your condiments. A little ketchup certainly isn’t going to kill you, but it would probably be a good idea to substitute other condiments, like salsa, when you can to help keep calories in check. One half cup of salsa has only 35 calories, while the same amount of ketchup packs a whopping 160 calories, which means you could easily save 125 calories just by making the simple switch. But is ketchup really a problem if you’re just dipping a few fries? Nah – a tablespoon of ketchup has only 15 calories and isn’t going to break your calorie bank.
Pro::
While it can hardly be considered a health food, ketchup has been found to a be beneficial source of lycopene, an antioxident which fights some forms of cancer. This is particurly true of the organic brands of ketchup. In fact, organic brands were found to contain three times as much lycopene as non-organic brands.

No, in fact its healthier in some ways than eating fresh tomatoes! Ketchup is packed full of anti-carconogens, so will help to prevent cancer. There really is nothing wrong with it, and in fact could be beneficial to your health. Keep up the good work! (though ketchup with ice cream is a bad idea...)

I too, love ketchup on sandwiches, meats, fries, etc.
Our dentist tells us that since ketchup is made with sugar, we should monitor our intake. That is, minimize where you can and use it in moderation. that is true with most foods, but try to use just a little less each time you reach for the bottle. You can wean yourself gently without having to give it up, then you can try to replace it or go without on occasion.
It is in our best interest to cut back where we can.

Who cares ? as long as it fits into your system, enjoy. In Asia they use a Banana Ketchup and put it on everything. It took me a while to adjust.
