Christ?

This catholic school in Lucknow, India held a "seance" where, allegedly, Jesus' soul was invoked, or whatever the term is.

So he writhed and showed all the usual symptoms of being possessed, and was so convincing that many school girls fainted and had to be hospitalized..

Eeew.

Like. Doesn't it sound like witchcraft or whatever?

Sorry, I don't want to paint all christians by the same brush.

I actually meant those missionaries there. All they will end up doing is, scaring away parents from putting their girls in an otherwise good school,

there are ppl in EVERY group out there that will do stupid things and believe they're doing it for some greater good. whether its a courty, a political group, a religion, you name it.

and i'm guessing buddha wouldnt want you to call them pathetic. he'd probably take his time and say something really reflective that neither praised, nor condemned their actions. buddha was good like that.

Heh...um, no friend, it sounds like some impressionable young folks got carried away or manipulated people who were impressionalbe, vulnerable, it is amazing how the body will follow suit, histrionics (ie. fainting) likely due to shock or hyperventilation.
Witchcraft, or Wicca though, is largely misunderstood. From what i gather, the bottom line is Wiccans worship or revere nature, and that is how they feel a sense of spirituality, like any other culture/faith, there are dogmatics who can take things too far. this catholic school, sounds like people were taken for granted, or got wrapped up with some really vivid imaginations...happens all the time unfortunately..for me, always good for a few laughs, ahh, what we humans will resort to to find answers out there, whatever....

Most of to days religions have many links to paganism they in fact did that for a reason...it would be easier to convert pagans. religion is a man made state of being, there are those of us who choose to live within reality and there are those who want to hide behind some magical being, much like a child and his imaginary friend Bob. This just shows you what lengths even adults will stoop to all to convince young children there is a God or a magical being. Every religious person has doubt, this is because what they are believing in is much like the lie they were told when they were children...Santa?

Does not sound like Chritianity to me. We mere mortals can only talk to God through prayer and that is supposed to be done in private. A true Christian would no more try to call on Jesus through a seance than they would use a ouiji board to pinpoint where satan is and who he is targeting next.I suppose next someone will say they have God hooked in to their Onstar system in their car.

Let's get the terminology right.

* A "Christian" is someone who follows the words of Jesus Christ above all others.
* A "Protestant" is someone who puts the Bible above the words of mankind. That is, no one and nothing may supercede it, except God Himself.
* A "Catholic" is someone who believes the word of man is as valuable as the word of God. That is, the words of the Pope has more weight than the words of the Bible, and traditions allowed or incorporated by other Popes are also of more importance than the Bible.

A Protestant Christian holds to the forbidding of witchcraft. A Catholic does not. Now mind you, the Bible forbids witchcraft. So... of the two beliefs, using logic, which is the Christian one (regarding this matter)?

Do not confuse "Christian" with either "Protestant" or "Catholic". A Christian holds true to the words of Christ and of God, and is saved. God forbade witchcraft... hence those who have practiced it, and yet do not repent, are not Christians.

Do not blame their failings on the lot of us.

Edit: And to Creatrix- not all Catholics are Christians, and not all Christians are Catholics. Being a Christian is deemed, by the Bible, as 1.) Believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and accept His sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins 2.) Repenting of your sins (that is, to realize how evil they are and not do them again) and asking God for forgiveness for them 3.) Be born-again. Not all Catholics are Christians, since not all Catholics have repented of their sins, asked God for forgiveness, or have been born-again.

Basically, Christians have always used local beliefs to convince people of Jesus' divinity. Why should this be any different?

BTW, Catholics ARE Christians. Not all Christians are Catholics, but all Catholics are Christians. Sheesh.

It's not witchcraft, for one thing. What it really is is hysteria and hype. Lying for Jesus is a very common thing to bring in the unbelievers, and that's what this clown was all about.

Don't lump all Christians together with a few crack-pots! It all comes down to education. Just like Muslims, Hindus, etc. The better educated you are the less radical/idiotic you are. We need more education and less bombs.

I am not a Catholic, nor will I ever be, I am a Christian. Some Catholics have accepted Jesus as their personal savior and are Christians, but not all.
