The reason why (especially if you want to lose weight) is that your body will be in a fasted state(no food in your tract and low blood glucose). At this time it will be easier to exhaust your glycogen stores and later target fat a fuel (gluconeogenisis).Once all of this has taken place your body is more likely to release growth factors(not just important for growth). You will also benefit from the additional thermogenisis during your waking hours and your body may be more likely to store certain macronutrients(such as carbs) down as glycogen throughout the day in an effort to refuel your body.Oftentime carbs are converted into fat by insulin and stored in your adipose tissue.Remember no carbs before bed and less toward the end of the day.And thank you for being one of the few that knows how to spell lose (not loose).Good luck.Joe

many people say the morning is best because it jump-starts your metabolism. But really, the best time to exercise is when you KNOW you will keep it up. If you are not a morning person and want to relieve work-related stress, then after work is fine. Some people even go later on in the evening! I believe whatever works best for you is the best bet. And to lose weight, make sure you eat healthy too. Working out will only take you so far! Good luck! :)

Nice try Daniel E, but morning work outs are considered better because it boosts the BMR (basal metabolic rate) for several hours after the session and those people that exercise in the morning for weight control loose slightly more weight. BUT if you can't sustain a regular exercise program in the morning (as most people can't) it is much better to do so in the evening. The KEY is to tailor the program the the needs of the individual so that it is a consistent, sustained program.

Morning is usually best. It helps raise your metabolism for the day, so you burn more calories while you're doing other things. Also, due to the endorphines, it makes you feel good + psychology you feel good that you've checked this off your list (and did something good for your body).
Exercising in evening can make it harder to fall asleep.
Once a day is great. You certainly don't need to exercise more than that to lose weight. In fact, doing it 3-4 x per week should enable you to lose weight, provided you're eating well.

Once a day, 3 or more times a week is enough to lose weight. There have been many studies done that show time of day has no relation to how effective exercise is. The rule is that it should be done no less than 2 hours before bedtime. What the studies do show is that people who get their exercise in before they let daily chores, work, etc., get in the way (make excuses not to do it), tend to stick with it.

First of all, there is no "right" time to workout. People workout in the morning, afternoon, or at night. It is when they have time. The best time to workout is when your body has enough energy and is willing to. You should try to workout 3-5 times a week, no more then 35-60 min. Keep active throughout the day and eat healthy. Little things like taking the stairs, instead of elevator, walking to the store, instead of driving (if the store is walking distance) makes a difference. If you have more concerns, you should research articles. Some helpful websites include: bodybuilding.com, or about.com. good luck!

Most people are 'day' people and most of the world caters to 'day' people, that's why.
A 'night' person, such as myself would have an energy boost/ spike only after 4pm, or when the sun is ready to set.
Exercising daily to lose weight is o.k., as long as it is of low intensity. If your aerobic workout of weight training is of high intensity, 7 days a week might be too much. 3 to 4 times a week is fine.

Research on lung funciton, body rhythms, temperature, and hormone levels says one thing - to exercise around 6 pm.
Surveys on exercise habits say another - to exercise in the morning before other commitments distract you, or during the day when you have a free period of time. Let's explore the pros and cons of when to exercise.
Mornings
Pros:
• The majority of people who exercise consistently do so early in the day. It is easier to form the exercise habit through morning exercise.
• Fewer distractions and schedule interruptions.
• Can make time for exercise by getting up a bit earlier.
• Raises your heart rate and metabolism to burn more calories earlier in the day.
• Gives a feeling of physical energy for hours.
• Improves your mental acuity for hours.
• Cooler temperatures in summer.
• Air pollution is lowest in the morning.
• The body adjusts to your exercise time, so if you are training for a morning sports event, train in the morning.
Cons:
• Body temperature is at its lowest 1-3 hours before awakening, making morning a time of naturally lower energy and blood flow.
• Cold, stiff muscles may be more prone to injury - be sure to warm up well before doing a higher intensity workout, and do gentle stretching.
• If you do not enjoy morning exercise, you won't easily form a habit by choosing a morning workout time.
• Because body temperature and hormones are higher in late afternoon, you probably get the same or better calorie-burning effects later in the day

They say that if you exercise in the morning you are more likely to keep doing it and it gives you a boost the rest of your day. BTW you're not John Cena's girl, I am ;)
