I live in central Illinois and this is how I will remember it.

I was on my way to install satellite systems and the news came across the radio. I had never installed them so fast, just to see what was going on. I called my wife who worked in an electronics store to turn on the TV's. She witnessed the second plane hit.

Later that day while in my van going to one of my next installs and all aircraft was grounded, I saw three planes in the air. A large jet and two fighter jets heading southwest. I believe it was air-force one. That's when it all hit me. I pulled over and broke down in tears.

Earlier that morning, I had told my wife of a most bizarre dream I had had. I was a fireman running downstairs of a building in a large city, I told her it wasn't in Chicago but a bigger city more like New York. I was trying to get to the basement. People were everywhere and yelling. When I got to the basement, there were train tracks.

There was much more to this dream, and I never knew there was a train station under the tower(s). It wasn't until a few days later that I had remembered my dream and I was totally in shock.

There aren't any classic old time favorite recipes for this day. It's not exactly a celebratory day.

Anyway, 5 years ago today I watched the 2ND plane hit live on TV and then I watched them collapse. I went to pick up my 2nd grader up from school out of fear. I cried the rest of the day and continue to cry every 9/11 when I watch the ceremony on TV.

I will rermember it because I was driving a Semi. on the Jersey border and could not get out because the bridges were closed and I sat and watched the smoke go up. God be with all the familys that lost loved ones on that day, and the ones who are still losing loved ones in the military today. I don't have any recipes.

i remember sept..11 5 years ago very well...and it was not such a good time in my life...i went to work though and that was how i found out what happened...i lived 2 hours away from work and got to work and we did not have to work that day...such a terrible tragedy though it makes mine look like nothing...but i think many really nice innocent people lost their lives and their is so many cruel people in this world that just keeps hurting people....and i really do not plan on cooking anything special today...actually i feel real depressed today...but i should just be counting my blessings to...i am thankful for what i have and that i am alive and doing ok....think about others instead of myself....

Are you for real? I always assumed that computer time wasn't allowed in the nut house?
