Catholics do not worship the saints, they honor them and seek their help to aid in worshiping God. The Church goes back to a time when people were so ignorant that they needed images to remind them how to worship. The practice of surrounding worshipers with figures out of the Church's history remains to this day, especially in other countries. B.

Just because a church is named after a certain saint does not mean that Catholics worship him or her. We give them the respect and honor due to them for the exemplary lives they lived. I am sure you have seen statues of generals riding horses or statesmen standing in a prominent pose, and you must at least know about the Lincoln memorial. We as a country do not worship these people, we honor them for their accomplishments. That is what Catholics do to their saintly heroes, we honor them.

I believe most American Catholics would argue that they do not worship saints or angels. They perform all the same sort of ritual veneration, obeisance before statuary of and prayer toward (they would say through, as subordinate intemediaries of the divine)saints and angels, especially toward Mary, as they do toward God and Jesus, but they apparently think they aren't worshipping the saints and angels and that makes it different in their mind. It is a subtle distinction without a difference.

I actually were a Catholic Christian for more desirable than a decade and performance in no way considered or heard of any Catholic worshipping an idol of any form. Catholics worship surely God contained in the Trinity. Are you basically attempting tospread nonsense andlies about Catholics? God bless! In Christ Fr.Joseph

Why would they be worshipping an angel or a saint? They should worship God alone. They should read Exodus 20:3-5 which states--"Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;"
Angels are not to be worshipped. This is found at Revelation 22:8--" I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me, "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!"
So who did the angel say to worship? Only God (Psalms 83:18; KJV & ASV)

Catholics do not worship saints. A church bearing the name of a saint does not mean that the people who atend that church worship him or her.
