I'm a Hindu living in south africa, and have fair parents, and they do not expect me to undergo such a thing as an arranged marriage. yet if i was living in India or any other place, with my parents being brought up differently, i might not be in college right now, studying towards my degree, but married with kids. so, i think that this arranged marriage thing is bull, because it puts you in spot you cannot get out off. you are stuck with a stranger, ecpected to bear hos babies, and should you ever want a divorce, it is seen as immoral in terms of society, and your parents would never accept. since there is no love involved between the couple, they do wind up cheating on each other sooner or later, and is that not more immoral??? you should fall in love naturally, i say, and should you experience problems, get a divorce, or a separation at least. my best friend is going to be maried arranged soon after she gets her degree, yet she is in love with someone else, where is the logic??? her heart is going to broken all over the place, and the result is only going to be four unhappy people.. her, her boyfriend, and their new partners

People say that their great grand parents' marriages were arranged and it worked out well. Some may have worked out well but consider, long ago, domestic violence was not an issue. It was socially acceptable for men to beat their wives in some cultures. Long ago, women were uneducated and had to stay with their husbands for survival. I don't advocate arranged marriages now. It takes years to know a person's true colours. If they know you for a short while, they will only show their good side. It's human nature. It takes years to find out if someone will stick with you through good times and bad.
