its a good quote, but questions rise everyday about something new. if everything was explained then there wouldnt be nothing more to explore or discover, there wuold be no history, no stories no crimes no mystery. it would just be a plain and boring earth. no diseases, overpopulation...etc etc

Good one! I believe it's true, too. Faith is by definition a belief in something unexplained (e.g. what happens after death) or unexplainable (e.g. something like "humanity" or "science", thing you cannot explain, because they do not pose a definite question).
Therefor if EVERYTHING were explained, faith (not necessarily faith in a God, just faith, period) would indeed become superfluous. But it's not going to happen anytime soon -- for now, for every question we answer, it feels like were posing 10 new question. So relax, church-freaks! :)

Everything will never be known, thus everything will never be explained. Thus people who are thus inclined will always have something to 'believe'. I suppose it must fulfill a need they have and it is NOT rational.

The thing that I find interesting is that about two thousand years ago we thought that we understood nearly everything.

About five hundred years ago, we thought that we understood nearly everything.

Now, we think that we understand nearly everything!

Nothing changes!
