Sorry, but I missed the Bible when I made my reading list when I was but a mere child. My spirit was inspired while reading "To Kill A Mockingbird" and then again when I saw the great, gentle film starring Gregory Peck. My spirit rose when I read "Portnoy's Complaint." My social spirit got points when I was the first on my block to read "Peyton Place" and underline the swear words. Loved the TV series, too. Spirituality never got better than watching "Little House on the Prairie" on TV. Brilliant execution and casting. Miss Michael Landon. Hundreds of American writers from Steinbeck to the LAPD crime novels of Joseph Wambaugh. Broadens the mind, folks, not stuck in Dogma. Although, I loved the film, "Dogma" released about three years ago - hilarious and reassuring.
I hear that Bible thing is dangerous when mere humans take it verbatim. People become unbearable when they subscribe to dogmatic, follow the leader thinking. Now get back in your pew!!!

The best we have found are written by James P. Gills, M.D. This man has written some very inspirational books. Dr. Gills is the founder and director of St. Luke's Cataract and Laser Institute in Tarpon Springs, Florida. His books are published by Creation House /A Strang Company. You could probably find his books through his publisher or check for a web site with his name.

Try the " Poem of the Man God" by Maria Valtorta... I believe all volumes have already been translated into English.
Another one is "City of God" by Maria of Agreda.
Hope you will find them as spiritually uplifting as I have :)
