It is natural.
It is also so easy to just follow the worlds ways, everything seems so easy, and fun! The Devil is smooth. So many times this road leads to some really bad life choices, and unhappiness. Please be careful!
Before you leave, please do some soul searching, and voice your doubts with your Pastor or Priest.
An eternity is a terrible thing to waste.
Peace, and may God Bless you and your Family!

As you get older, it gets harder to hold on to your faith. Everyone with a brain questions it, and that's normal. I lost my faith in Christianity when I was about 13 or so. I studied a lot of religions, and even got into the occult. Eventually I came back to my faith and realized, when I was a child I didn't really know what Christianity was. Back then I thought it was about people arguing to see who was right. I fell for a lot of misinformation put out there like "The Passover Plot". If the DaVinci Code had been around back then I would have fallen for that too.
Eventually, I realized Christians weren't the reason for every ill, and that human beings are human beings, and they often make mistakes, no matter what religion they are.
C.S. Lewis is another person who lost his faith when he was young. I think if you read some of his books, it might be a good start.
I started a slow climb back to Christianity, and it ended in a sudden conversion. With no other way to phrase it, I got the Holy Spirit. Eventually that will have to happen to you.
All I can tell you is, don't chuck it yet. If you don't like the church you're at, find another one.

You should learn more about the history of The Bible and examine it critically. If it really is the word of God as Christians say, then you'll come to recognize that. If you are like me, you'll realize that the Old Testament is basically the oral myths of bronze age people who were trying to make sense of a world and didn't have the right tools (physical and mental) and wisdom to make educated guesses.
The New Testament is only slightly better off. Jesus Christ probably was a real person and probably was crucified. There is plenty of independent evidence that crucifixtion was used against "criminals" as a death sentence. However, there is no independent evidence of any of Christ's supposed miracles. At the people of the first two centuries who wrote the New Testament were only barely more sophisticated that the people who originally made up the stories that became the Old Testament.

I was/am in the same boat as you. I see religion as addiction. It has the same pattern of "chasing the red dragon." My entire family believes in the Bible and are devout church-going Christians. I was raised in it and tried so hard to carry on and "grow" in my faith, as an adult. I just could never blindly accept the illogical. I suffered religious abuse at the hands of the church. They had me remain in an abusive and adulterous marriage, suffering. They told me that Satan was lying to me and that I needed to pray harder and differently. I was surrounded by unqualified, uneducated "counselors" whose advise hurt me more. Over time, I found that knowledge refuted every story of the Bible, that the Bible was Man-serving and too subjective to interpretation. Long rest of story, but being free from the chains of religion is the happiest I have ever been. I love my parents, but I see them as a little bit pathetic: so absorbed in this fantasy and so detached from reality. I have earned respect in my family, and I don't think anyone would really like to take me to the mat on this debate. So it doesn't affect anything. I'm close with my family members. I only see their respect for me; I don't see the worry on their faces. I think they know that they don't really "know"; they just "believe."
The "Holy Spirit" stuff is a way for Christians to "one up" one another. It is a gimmick to draw attention and new church members. I also believe that the physiological high of Holy Spirit is actually a self-induced, addicting endorphine rush.

You are having doubts as to whether God is real or not. If you will follow my suggestion you will know, without any doubt, that he is real. The 700 club comes on tv every morning at 8 am. Get their phone number and ask them to send you the DVD "12 Miracles, Touched by The Hand of God." It's Free. These are not of miracles from long ago, but miracles that are happening right now. After witnessing these 12 miracles of every day people, you will believe that God is real. There is absolutely no other explanation. May God bless you as well.

There is a LOT of research that has been done on the Bible, some of it by former atheists. Read about the Bible, and how we know it's real. Don't just assume that all the atheists here are right. For that matter, don't assume that I am right. Find out for yourself. Ever hear of places called libraries? You can learn a lot there, too.

To be honest the fact that you doubt is a good sign - we are supposed to doubt. The Bible was written by men, and for men - why else do you think God is portrayed as a man, the Messiah is a man, and he had twelve men as apostels - the few women in the Bible are such a minority that it is ridiculous to say they prove the Bible is not sexist.
I truely believe the Creator wants us to explore and search for the truth - we are not supposed to just accept what others tell us blindly. If you believe in the Creator, great! Now try to explore who the Creator is through meditation and prayer.

You doubt because you haven't had a genuine experience with God yet. Read Acts 2, focus on verse 38. You will know for sure when you are Baptised in Jesus name and are receive the gift of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in tongues. You can e-mail me if you want more info. I'd be happy to teach you more about what I know about God and salvation. I had the same problem before. I even went searching for other religions like Buddhism, Wicca, etc. Nothing convinced me of made me feel whole. It took my going to an Apostolic Pentacostal church to teach me and open my eyes to the truth. Good luck with your sould searching.

Just follow your own instincts and your heart. Learn to trust yourself and get to know yourself deep-down. Do that and you will open up to your surroundings and then you will find your own path. Maybe it will include religion, maybe you will adopt other beliefs, as long as you do not let anybody tell you what to believe. Religion is a personal matter and includes only yourself. People tend to forget that and many believe that they have found the right path and the only path, which gives them the right to point their fingers and to tell what is wrong and what is right in this world.

i ask a priest once about what the bible can do to us. he said the bible contains the scriptures which is the food of our soul as natural food is for our physical body.
how can the bible be the food of my soul when everytime i read it, i usually don't get the meaning of it or i dunt understant it much. he said, when you read the bible, you must pray first coz everytime you make something for God, the demon always make a way to confuse you or bore you or keep you from doing it. if you pray and seek for guidance in reading the bible, God will reveal to you the real meaning of the bible.
