Granted we are not very close. My mom married him after a was already grown. I have alot of respect for him, but he is not a strong "father figure" in my life. I want a song with meaning but nothing about being daddy's little girl kind for thing. HELP!!!

"We've only just begun" by the Carpenters.
It will be a tribute to how you can get to know him better in the years to come.

Internet sites also suggested:
"He didn't have to be" by Brad Paisley
"Stepfather of the Bride" by Mike McLaughlin
What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
One Friend - Dan Seals
You Don't Have To Let Go - Jessica Simpson
You Raise Me Up - Josh Groban
Smile - Nat King Cole
Moon River - Louis Armstrong
"When I needed you most" by Kimay Seward
"Then they do" by Trace Adkins

My suggestions? Look up the lyrics to each to decide which fits. If none fit, get an instrumental piece like classical or jazz or whatever fits the wedding and/or your personal relationship with him for the dance.
Have a wonderful wedding, whatever songs you choose!

I would definitely opt for something that is fun, instead of sentimental--- especially if that sentiment is not there. If you aren't close, there is certainly no need to force it for the sake of your wedding. Depending on your musical preference, you can shoot for something whimsical and fast, or unpretentious and slow. All up to you. Use a site like Amazon or iTunes to hear snippets of songs that you are considering.

Some options (I will try to provide a brief, yet well rounded list that might accommodate your musical taste):

I Get A Kick Out of You-- Frank Sinatra
Isn't She Lovely-- Stevie Wonder
Thank Heaven for Little Girls-- Maurice Chevaulier
Can't You Feel the Love Tonight-- Elton John
Celebrate-- Kool and the Gang
What A Wonderful World-- Louis Armstrong
Thanks Again-- Ricky Skaggs
They Can't Take That Away From Me-- F. Sinatra and N. Cole

First- don't do the dance with your step father if it's only because your mom wants you to. Second- whoever played the bigger part in your life as a "dad" do the dance with him first and the other second. Let both pick what songs they want to dance with you to but obviously if they pick the same one whoever you dance with first gets dibs.

I chose Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle for our dad/ daughter song. I am very close to my Dad and not my natural father so it was appropriate since my natural father is not involved in my life at all. It depends on how close you are to him, and if you are close to your father, as well as if he will be attending also. Try something that makes you think of him for his song. Maybe Unforgettable ( the duet version with Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole)

I don't know what kind of music you like, but country singer Tim McGraw has one that just came out called My Little Girl for the movie Flicka. It's really sweet, and one that I recently chose for my wedding coming up!
