When you can do it on your own, but 21 is a good age

There are so many factors to consider here. In this weak economy there have been more instances of extended family living together to help manage expenses. This depends, however, on how well the people involved get along with each other and if the person in question is responsible enough to maintain financial independence. If the arrangement between the parties is amicable, then there is no set age at which the "child" should move. If the parents and/or child are financially and emotionally ready then it's time.

In the culture of the US, the parents obligation is through high school or 18 whichever is later.
Most kids are eager to leave the house and begin their lives as an independent entity. Often the kid will move to an apartment or dorm room in the same town with the support of the parents.

I was 17 when I left my parent's house but I had a job and a car and got a place to stay so it just depends on your maturity level and your resources. I recommend you wait as long as possible because bills are no joke!!! Make sure that you have a job and some loot stashed away for a rainy day for when you're ready to move. Good luck and don't go until you're ready.

There is no one good age. It is a personal decision between you and your parents. Personally I do not think before 18 as you would be unable to legally sign anything useful.

I have known people who have stayed with their parents until they were in their 20s. They were able to go to college without having to work their way through. This is a big advantage for people who have a good relationship with their parents. In my case, I could not wait to get out because of my relationship with my parents. It was much harder for me that way.

Best of luck to you.

It all depends on how your finances are and if you are mature enough to take care of a house/apt. alone. There are a lot of different factors that would decide that for you. Can you afford to pay rent and bills? Do you have your own car? Do you have a steady job and a good income to where you don't have to borrow money or get welfare? It just depends when you are ready for all that responsibility.

I left at 16 and if I could have stayed longer, I would have. My advice is to stay as long as possible, as bad as it might seem at home with your parents, living out in the real world on your own is almost always worse. Stay at home and save up some money so that you can leave their house and fly, not fall on your face.

Depending on the legal requirements in the different countries, when you get to become a legal adult and probably financially stable to take good care of yourself. In my country, at 18 years you are an adult, but most people by then is when they are joining Universities, so they keep home until they finish University studies and probably get a job.
