sure you can. If you have a lighter color hair you can go darker without bleaching it but if you have dark hair and want to go lighter then you have to bleach it first, other wise you wasted your money on hair color.
I use to dye my hair differnt shades of red and my hair is a medium brown and it worked great. One time I wanted to dye it firetruck red and in order to do so I had to bleach it first to make the red really pop other wise I would have had reddish brownish hair. good luck!

I used to work at a Sally Beauty Supply. As others have stated, if your hair is dark and you want to go lighter, you would have to pre-lighten your hair first. If you go to a Sally's and ask an associate to help you, there are a couple of brands of hair color that is specifically for dark hair, and does not require bleaching (is still very harsh on your hair). The tube (or bottle) of color has to be mixed with developer (creamy, white substance). Developer is basically peroxide. It comes in 10 volume, 20 volume, 30 volume, 40 volume, and for professionals only, 50 volume. The higher the volume, the lighter your hair will turn out. Most people seem to have really good results with the "for dark hair only" dyes, and 20 or 30 volume developer. Just make sure you use a realy good treatment after you color or bleach. Sally's has one by ION that is a reconstructor, it works wonders. Hope this helps some.

Yes you can. My friend used to do it for me, I don't really know how...but I can guess. We got our products from Sally Beauty Supply, pick the color you like, and then this stuff that you blend it with. It had different numbers like...dono...but basically it goes by how strong the solution will be. I'm sure if you go to Sally's Beauty Supply, there will be an associate who can help. My hair is dark dark brown, my friend got it to a beautiful red copper color. So it is possible, but hair salon must use a weaker solution b/c they always bleach first and the results doesn't last as long.
Hope that helps!

If you are dying your hair darker than your natural shade, then you don't have to bleach it.
Depending on how dark your hair is right now, you might be able to get away with dying it a few shades lighter without bleaching it first.
If you are dying your hair very light (i.e. from brown to lgiht blonde) then you will have to bleach your hair first, before dying it the selected shade.
Good luck!

It depends on what color your hair is now and what color you are trying to achieve. If you are thinking of doing both you really should see a professional hairstylist.
For one you are probably planning on using store products (be careful alot contain metalic dys which are very harmful to the hair) and than when you put another chemical over that you can cause an explosion on the hair which could cause your hair to break off or be very damaged.

yes depending on the color you want if you want lighter hair and you have never colored your hair you can lighten it a bit from the color you use but if you have colored it before the color won't lighten the old color enough for you to notice. I would be VERY cautious with bleach leave that to the pros you can really mess up your hair if you decide to do it oyurself. the paying to get it fixed is even more. so please consult someone before you decide to color : ) you can email me if you have questions ;)

If you'e trying to dye very light over very dark, it won't work without stripping your hair first, which is very hard on the hair.

Yes, if you go darker. If you wanna go lighter just buy a box and color. Beware though, you usually dont get the color on the box because everyone has different tones and highlights. Whenever i try to go lighter i end up brassy or just plain horrible.

by the look of your picture, no. not unless your hair is blonde/brown. But if you want to die your hair red or brown I suggest you use henna. It works great and looks natural!
