Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie. I don't know them, and what they do is their choice, but seriously are bastards the new trend? What's with all these people "falling in love" briefly, of course, and then popping out babies? What ever happened to getting married first?
I thought you were supposed to get your relationship with your partner straight first, THEN bring kids into it. Are legitimate children going out of style?? LMAO. YES, I am a legitimate child; beat you to it didn't I? LMAO!

I think that part of it is Hollywood and making good tabloid fodder, but there were a lot of bastards (though no one calls them as such nowadays, in part because it's a norm) about 20 years ago, too. A lot of people don't have to be in love to "make a baby" and some (not all!) women want to have a kid to be their best friend and always be there... HELLO? Kids end up growing up into teens of doom! Also, some single mothers will use the fact that they're "struggling" to raise a child as a point of pride.

The pill doesn't always work, even if you take it as instructed. Perhaps there's been a decrease in abortions?

When I got engaged, I had a discussion that I wanted our relationship to be solid and finances in place (i.e. start investing for retirement, having a reasonable mortgage, an "in case of emergency" fund if there were to be unemployment, etc), so I would be on birth control for a while.

I think that marriages that last are going out of style. With one-night-stands and sex by the third date becoming more common, one don't really have an established relationship before hopping in bed.

We live in a modern world where pieces of paper dont mean that much anymore. I dont think there is anything wrong with people not wanting to marry its up to the individuals.

Some people want to show there love by getting married to show commitment, but how many of them are faithful even when married? Some people believe just showing how much they love each other every day with a hug or a kiss is enough for them without the paper to show it.

The children with unmarried parents shouldnt be looked upon any differently to legitimate children.

I think its a matter of who it is. No one elses problem if they aren't living off the state who cares. There are plenty of very intelligent people out there that were raised by one parent, or parents out of wedlock. I guess its just more common now a days. Back in the day it was a "OMG HIDE THIS PREGNANCY & WE WILL GIVE IT AWAY TO A MARRIED COUPLE" kinda thing! LOL! Sorry ! Its just a more common thing....Everywhere!

It's not a big deal any more. Our culture has shifted - perhaps in response to our 50% divorce rate.

The value of marriage has dropped. Making some things important like virginity and even children, I suppose, is simply not a safe bet anymore. The odds of making such thing important being worthwhile has declined in this society.

You're really a nasty b*tch, aren't you?!
No baby or kid deserves to be called a bastard, even in the traditional sense of the word. Maybe it's immoral to have kids before marriage, but they love them & take care of them & it has nothing to do with you or your pathetic life what so ever. Besides, who the he*ll are you to call anyone a bastard?
& no, I'm not a bastard, either. I just think you're an a*ss. LMAO, beat you to it, didn't I? You're stupid

Bastards has been around for a long time. I personally don't think it matters as long as the folks who gave these children life participate in their lives and help them become more mature and caring adults. Just because one isn't married to someone doesn't mean they can't be a good parent to a child. Folks elect to get married for various reasons just as the same as those who choose not to marry.

I agree marriage would be a good first idea. However, in my mind, all children are legitimate, it is their parents that aren't. As far as bastards go, coming from married parents does not eliminate the chance of being a bastard as you so clearly illustrated.

And do you think being a child of divorced parents is much better that being a bastard? Or of parents you wish were divorced?

A new soul has entered the world; it needs to be loved as well as their parents can; their marital status... is no longer relevant, at least not that much.

i dont think "bastards" are a new trend, but its more acceptable now to have children out of wedlock than it used to be. society changes all the time on what is acceptable and what is not...just a little over 50 years ago it was illegal for a black man to marry a white woman... things change, and change is good.

Not new this is what people in the spot light have been doing for a long time. We just have to quit highlighting these people as good.

Good Luck and God Bless!!
