I would like some gift ideas for a wedding that I will be attending in a couple of weeks in New England.

The couple are both in ther 40's, have everything for the household, have been togetehr for 10 years. The wedding is going to be at the beach and is a non-traditional, casual event.
They enjoy going to the beach together. They are both affluent and they are both in professional fields.

I'm completly clueless of what to get them.

My budget is around $100 dolars.

Any help would be appretriated. I would NOT like to give then a charity donation or a star name. Please spare any rude comments.

Thank you

Are you coming in from another part of the country? As a New Englander myself, I would LOVE a basket of goodies from another region of the country. That's not something that they could do for themselves and it is a really personal gift from you to them.

Perhaps some lovely pewter or crystal serving pieces. If they are both affluent then they may appreciate a piece of crystal from Waterford. They have some gorgeous wedding frames and the range of $100.00.

Personalized gifts are wonderful because, no matter how affluent one may be, a personalized gift is something unique and treasured. www.thingsremembered.com or www.personalizationmall.com have some lovely ideas. Just about anything can be personalized.

A high end photo album with a silver plated front engraved with the couple's name/wedding date would be very nice.

Enjoy your time in New England - it is so beautiful here this time of year!!!

Has the couple registered anywhere? The hot new trend in registries are the honeymoon registries. Instead of the traditional pots and pans, guests can "gift" a portion of the couple's honeymoon-- usually room upgrades, spa sessions, excursions, etc.

However if the couple hasn't registered, and seem to have it all, try to think of some innovative ideas. Perhaps a his/her massage or facial. My husband I had one done and it was awesome. It, too, was by the beach in Jamaica, and it was quite relaxing. Perhaps you can get them a photo shoot with a great photographer, a romantic dinner for two catered to their home, play/opera tickets, etc.

Opt for something they will enjoy, especially after the hooplah of the wedding. Help them carry on the romance after the wedding :) They will definitley appreciate it.

I really applaud your efforts to do something above and beyond! And your budget is just about perfect, even a little more than what I would spend.

I like the idea of doing something a little special- find out where they're honeymooning and talk to someone who's helped them with their plans. Give them a gift certificate to a local resaurant, or a spa treatment during their honeymoon. It's important not to just give them something for honeymoon use that will conflict with their plans.

I also love the idea of a plant- a peace lily is beautiful and easy to care for. Buy a huge pot and have it personalized by a local artist. Many places now have do-it-yourself pottery where you can paint it and they'll fire and glaze it for you.

Again, kudos on not just handing them an envelope of cash. Do something personal and fun and they'll appreciate it forever!

My husband says a living plant. That way they can have it in their yard or on the patio and over the years they'll always have a rememberance of the wedding.

Or maybe a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant? If you know the place, call the manager and make special arrangements for a good table and they'll be totally surprised when they get a red carpet treatment!

For weddings I usually try to get the couple something that has their name and wedding date on it.

Some suggestions:
From Redenvelope
1) personalized memory frames - $78 + $10 to personalize
2) standing gallery frame - $40 + $10 to personalize
3) silver-leaf photo library - $40 + $10 to personalize

I have personally bought #2 & #3 for a wedding gift. The couple loved them! All of the above are great for putting wedding pictures in.

Now if you want something truly unique, one of a kind, I recommend getting them a wishbowl (www.wishbowl.com), prices for a wishbowl range from $49-$189 + $15 for personalization (cost varies depending on the size of the bowl/style of the bowl). They are all handpainted just for you. They are great for display or you can eat out of it if you want. I recently got one of these as a wedding gift for my best friend. She loved it! Last I knew she was deciding how she wanted to display it (the backside is what is personalized).

Good Luck!

Visit www.breezybeachwear.com

Get the couple a "I love the Beach" gift basket filled with items from there. They also have a really cute T-shirt set that has a palm tree on the front and one says Island Bride and the other says Island Groom, in their apparel section!

findout if they have a favorite restaurant in the area and buy them $100 gift certificate, or if they have a special chairty they support, you can make $100 donation in their name. I also like the previous idea of a spa certificate, or maybe a gift certificate to have a personal masseuse go to their home and do couples massage.

Give them the money in a card if they are going on a honeymoon they will love the extra cash, or they may want a really big ticket item and can put the cash they have received toward it. Its in good taste now days to give cash.

Here are a few ideas: a very nice photo album and it would be great if you could get some pics to put in it of them (ask other friends, family members, etc.)

Or a basket filled with a good bottle of wine, pasta, pasta sauce, bread mix, and truffles.

Another idea: massage for two.

You can give them the $100 cash, or maybe $100 towards a weekend at a bed and breakfast.
