Islamically a Muslim man can marry a Muslim/Christian/Jewish woman. However a Muslim woman can only marry a Muslim man, this is because the children will take the religion of the father.
I think the family of a Muslim woman would expect her husband to be a Muslim or convert to Islam. I personally am a Christian and my husband is a Muslim and our families are both accepting of the marriage.

Why would a real christian want to marry a muslim? And why would a real muslim marry a christian? Why claim to have a religion when obviously the religions don't matter to you? Your question is really whether it is legal, and whether your communities will accept you. What will you teach your children? In Islam, it is permissible to marry a Jew or Christian but then they must not practise their Judaism or Chrsitianlty anymore but must submit to Islam. This is something you need to consider beyond mere legalities. It is a serious decision and you need to ask yourself what you actually believe in and why? Have you read the Gospels? Have you read the Q'uran? Is this life and its temporal enjoyment all there is? Isn't there more to life beyond this life? If you don't believe that there is a God or that what He thinks matters, your labels are nothing more than labels. I don't wish to offend you and hope I have been challenging without meaning any disrespect to you or your partner.

people should not talk about the legal aspect of this. its the religious aspect that is in question here. the islamic faith does not give permission for a muslim woman to marry a non-muslim man unless the man converts to islam.

They can only be together if married in a civil ceremony. For them to marry in a church of either denomination, one has to embrace the other's religious beliefs.
In any case, I think they're very brave given the present circumstances and attitudes

Depends on how religious they are !
technically No !
Practically , Yes
everyday !
edit :
If you believe in God, then the Muslim god and Christian god are the same, and god would understand !
If you believe in your sect or religion, more than you believe in god ! then go back to your church or mosque, and stop pretending to ask intellectual questions.

Legally it's ok since there's no "Islamic law" there. My friends did it. But practically it depends. Like I said, my friends did it.

sure, it's legal, but it may cause lots of family problems because the christian and moslem superstititons are different from each other.
