Strawberries. Lots of bakeries around where I am have a cake called the Italian fruit cake, and it has frosting, peaches and strawberries inside it. The frosting is a bit lighter though, almost like a whipped cream and it isn't sickenly sweet. Very delicious.

I would suggest blueberries - if you can find relatively fresh, organic blueberries - the tartness would be a great contrast to the sweetness of the peaches. But, may have a little of "blue" color bleeding around the berries - so, if you are looking for a pristine white cake this may be a concern...

I would say strawberries or raspberries, just something to give it more color and complment the peaches by having a stronger flavor along with the more subtle but still delicious peaches

i think apricots would be over poweing to the peachs. Try a few marichino cherries... it will give a nice contrast and the flavors will compliment each other... dont use TOO many.

I like a dark, sweet berry - like blackberries, blueberries... raspberries are good too. Dark cherries are great with peaches.
