It seems like you are able to get it in just fine. It hurting when it goes in is another situation. So does it slipping out all the time. As for the slippage, ride him with shorter strokes. Don't come up so high. You apparently are overestimating his length. Can't help with the pain issue.

You need to sit back further and lean back. You are probably leaning to far forward = or it could be that he is smaller than normal.
