Don't tell everybody; but when I had mine hooked up, I went to the Yellow Pages and looked under direct tv satellite service. I had three companies and I could choose exactly what I wanted at a competative price.

Both the other answers are correct: it is easy to connect up satellite service and cable service simultaneously. I did this in the past as a cable installer for people who wanted some specialty channels that cable did not supply but were available from satellite.

Run the separate services, and then hook in an A/B switch just before the television or VCR to select the desired feed.

There's another factor in apartments that has to be considered, and that is a political and structure factor. Some of the apartment buildings in the past were constructed with one and only one set of cables within the walls. Then they negotiated contracts for the type of television service that could use these internal cables. If the apartment complex has such a deal and does not allow external wiring, they'll act to prevent you from violating their rules.

To summarize, it is quite easy to have what you noted in the question if the management of the apartment or condo has no restrictions against it.

I don't understand your question. Are you're asking whether you can have cable TV connected if you also have DirecTV satellite service? If so, the answer is "yes." As long as you have money, you can get as many things connected as you wish,

Why not?
Everyone wants your business.
If you want Cable and DirecTV and Dish Network at the same time, all will be happy to take your money.
