I direct this question to those who say or believe that there was a time when God chose to cease being everywhere and chose to be somewhere.

For the action of incarnation, or rather the laws of incarnation would want one to be finite-even if it be God-thereby negating the attribute of His Infinity, hence His "Godness!!"

By this simple urgument, can anyone briefly tell me if there was a time when God ceased to be God.......and if so, who ran the show in His brief absence, controlling, directing, coordinating, blessing, protecting the universe ........infact all life?

Or did He leave someone, a deputy to take care of His creation while He 'manifested' Himself to the world?

Plse note that action, any action for that , involves motion in space and time: the brief moment when God chose/chooses to 'cease" being God so as to come into the world would entail motion in space and time.....which infers that Infinite Spirit is also subject to constraints of space and time!!!!

Lord has inconceiveble powers. Everything is His energies, but still He has His eternal personal form, in which He can be present in some place some time. He has innumerable forms, and each and every one of His forms possesses His unlimited powers.
Here are few verses from the Bhagavad-gita which describe Lord's inconceivable powers:

mayā tatam idaḿ sarvaḿ

jagad avyakta-mūrtinā

mat-sthāni sarva-bhūtāni

na cāhaḿ teṣv avasthitaḥ

"By Me, in My unmanifested form, this entire universe is pervaded. All beings are in Me, but I am not in them." (9.4)

na ca mat-sthāni bhūtāni

paśya me yogam aiśvaram

bhūta-bhṛn na ca bhūta-stho

mamātmā bhūta-bhāvanaḥ

"And yet everything that is created does not rest in Me. Behold My mystic opulence! Although I am the maintainer of all living entities and although I am everywhere, I am not a part of this cosmic manifestation, for My Self is the very source of creation." (9.5)

yathākāśa-sthito nityaḿ

vāyuḥ sarvatra-go mahān

tathā sarvāṇi bhūtāni

mat-sthānīty upadhāraya

"Understand that as the mighty wind, blowing everywhere, rests always in the sky, all created beings rest in Me." (9.6)

prakṛtiḿ svām avaṣṭabhya

visṛjāmi punaḥ punaḥ

bhūta-grāmam imaḿ kṛtsnam

avaśaḿ prakṛter vaśāt

"The whole cosmic order is under Me. Under My will it is automatically manifested again and again, and under My will it is annihilated at the end." (9.8)

avajānanti māḿ mūḍhā

mānuṣīḿ tanum āśritam

paraḿ bhāvam ajānanto

mama bhūta-maheśvaram

"Fools deride Me when I descend in the human form. They do not know My transcendental nature as the Supreme Lord of all that be." (9.11)

But we must understand that it is not possible to get knowledge about the Lord with our own limited brain. Instead we must humbly hear about Him from authorized scriptures and bonafide spiritual master.

Where did you get that from, that God ceased to be somewhere?

Anyway, your whole question is irrelevant. God is not physical, and is not limited by time nor by space. He knows the end from the beginning, and inhabits the entire universe, in fact he holds the entire universe together. If he stopped holding his creation together, everything would just disappear in an instant, including you.

Now, perhaps that's not such a bad idea after all......

First you have to understand that you and I and everyone on this here earth are part and parcel of that great divine. That spark of divinity that lies within you and me and everyone else, is God pervaded, therefore, it is safe to say that you are God, only difference is you don't realize it because of this 'Maya' or illusion of this material world. In the bible, Jesus said ' these things you see me do, you can do it too'. Why, because we are in the very sense God too which He knew.
God can therefore manifest on earth as man and still be infinite at the same time. If God is here there and everywhere, then where can He not be?

God is the Almighty God and can be everywhere at the same time. Nothing is impossible for Him. God is every where all the time, not just once in a while.

God ceases the moment reason takes over.

The One True God is definitely present everywhere every time, but man here and there can recognize His presence from time to time. However, this partial recognition is still much better than having no awareness at all.
An old philosopher said: It is not strange that Thou art closer to me than my life vein; but it is really strange that I do not recognize Thee while thou art in such closeness to me!

Please don't try to pollute the purity of belief with the defilement of rational thought - it's just too unfair to the deluded.

HERE IS ANOTHER ONE WHO IS QUESTIONING GOD'S ALMIGHTY POWER! I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE(YOU) HAVE TO QUESTION GOD'S LOVE, STRENGTH, & POWER! GOD LOVES & WATCHES OVER ALL OF HIS CHILDREN, GOD IS NOT A QUITTER, AND NEITHER SHOULD ANY OF US BE!!!!!! GOD IS OUR SAVIOUR, WE SHOULD BE WORSHIPPING GOD, NOT DISCRIMINATING AGAINST HIM!!!!!!!
