Really depends on your budget and how much work you want to put into it but I would definitely have the following:
Smoked Salmon
Chicken pieces
Cous-cous with Roasted vegetables#
Salad made with good quality veg
Home made new potato salad - try chopping some spring onions into it - lovely
Some sliced meat - a nice joint of beef or some ham
Dips
Pasta with sundried tomatoes and olive oil and pesto
Breadsticks
Some pastry bits - like sausage rolls, mini quiches etc
Mini sausages - with mustard dip - delicious
Crisps
Good quality bread/rolls + butter
A whole poached salmon if you can afford it
Egg mayonaise (each egg cut in half and covered with a loose mayo)
Olives/Houmous/Pitta Bread
Torte/Cheesecake/Gateaux
Cheese board with fruit
Don't forget - a lot of this sort of stuff is available from Iceland (the shop) and some of it you can prepare in advance like the pasta and cous-cous/cook the meat/fish
Please also make sure if there are vegetarians attending you have choices for them.
If you're doing hot food as well, samosa's and onion bahji's go down well with a mango chutney dip.
I would help you if I lived near! Good luck

Hello there,
I know this is messy but it's my all time favorite buffet food, crab legs. I don't think it would work for the wedding buffet but just think how much fun it would be to watch everyone try to keep clean while breaking them apart and eating them.
How about deviled eggs for one item?
Wing dings for another and potato salad.
Lots of napkins!!!!
May I ask why you volunteered to do this on such short notice?
Any kind of finger food would go along with any buffet for that matter and also use plastic ware for forks and such too.
Sounds like you really have your hands full with the wedding coming up on Saturday already.
Good luck to you and the wedding couple too.

i've done buffets for quite a few weddings my own included the key is to keep it a simple as u can u don't need extravagent stuff for it to be good
open top sarnies or even better put bowls of fillings and the meats on the table and let people "make their own" pasta salads and cous cous salad bowls quiches and pork pie slices (u can get them cheap and big from the cash and carry along with yr cooked meats) chicken satay and spring rolls vol au vants scotch eggs cheese and onion rolls indian snacks keeping it a cold buffet will make it easier on u and people love them
Good luck i'm sure u'll do a grand job

We just had a wedding here in our back lawn, and set up a buffet also. We served a whole smoked ham-sliced, BBQ ribs (the grooms request), 2 types of pasta salads (one with turkey & cheese chunks and one without), potato salad, crudite platters with dips, cheeses, cheeseballs, and home baked breads, pickles, olives, etc, and a pasta alfredo. We also had a dessert buffet table, that also held the wine, punch, and water bottles. Good luck-it is a lot of work, but the beautiful presentation of the food will be an added feast for your guests' eyes!

Pretty much the same ideas as everyone else really:
sausage rolls, vol au vents (chicken, mushroom, prawn filling), Quiche (veggie and meat option) salads, pasta salads, potato salad, Chicken drumsticks or wings (can be seasoned with different spices), Vege crudites & dips, small sandwiches or cooked meat and cheese and bread rolls.
Mini deserts (eclairs or pavlova - can be bought from frozen food shops and defrosted) and fruit salad. (or don't bother if the wedding cake is to be cut)
Main advice is presentation. Try and co-ordinate all dishes and serving plates (silver trays and bowls always look good) also use sprigs of parsley or salad items to garnish (you can make tomatoe roses and things using iced water - check on internet for this)
Most things can be bought ready made so its just a case of making it look good.
Good luck and enjoy the wedding.

Crab puffs; prawn vol-au-vents; mushroom vol-au-vents; miniature fruit kebabs - use cocktail sticks; samosas; smoked salmon and cream cheese spread on small pieces of bread; mini-quiches (not so soggy that they collapse); breaded shrimps - the kind where you use the 'tail' as a handle; small pieces of bread topped with cream cheese, very crisp bacon, and half a grape - get streaky bacon and cook it slowly so that it crisps up and then let it go cold.
That assumes people will have to use their fingers for eating and won't have knives or forks (plates and paper thingys essential). If people will have plates and cutlery and be able to sit down, one great simple dish is sliced bananas mixed with mayonnaise to which you've added curry powder - often found in South Africa but rarely seen here.
Hope that helps a bit. Have a great time and don't knock yourselves out so that you don't enjoy the wedding.

You should have at least 2 meat dishes, 1 seafoood, 2 pasta dishes, 1-2 vegetables and 1-2 potato dishes. This all depends on how many people they plan on having. If it's over 100, you can go with more than 2 meat dishes, pasta dishes, etc.
Chicken Franchaise
Rice Balls
Penne Vodka Sauce
Potato Croquettes
Veal Marsala
Pasta with Clam Sauce
Stuffed Filet with Crabmeat
String Beans Almondine
