It really depends on the guy.
Does this fellow wear other jewelry, like necklaces or bracelets, or even watches? Many of us guys are totally averse to any such decoration, but other seem to think otherwise.
If he *is* in the habit of wearing some kind of adornment, you could ask him where he got that ___ that he's wearing, and see if any items were gifts.
You also could get some sense of whether he might attach sentimental value to such a gift by making casual comments about other guys who are wearing stuff when you're together... ("that's an interesting gold alarm clock that Spiffy is wearing around his neck, don't you think?) and listening his reactions.

It's "feminine". This is not made for a guy - it's only just over 7 inches long, so it's made for a girl's dainty wrist.
